Picked up my E fans off an 05 Tahoe 5.3L for $165.00 and a new 145 amp altenator for 110. I figure while I'm at it I will change the idler wheel and belt. I want to get the harness kit from BB. Since I am beefing up the alt, do I still need to change the wheel that comes with the kit? Also any recommendations on anything else I should change out while I'm at it?

I was just thinking about starting a similar thread yesterday...
Where'd you get your parts from? You plan on making a "how to"??

Got the e fans off a 05 tahoe at a local salvage yard. Two doors down was an alternator shopI stopped in to ask a question and left with a brand new 145 amp alternator. I didnt even need to trade in the core. I'm currantly waiting to hear back from Justin about coming to Pittsburgh Mills Mall. I want to get there harness and turn on the pins so I can run it off my pcm. I do plan on documenting the mod and I'm already thinking of new ways to mf parts and tools and three different ways to call myself a dumbass for taking on this project.

I want to do this so bad, I hate the way my truck feels and sounds with the a/c on.
I was thinking of getting the fans brand new on ebay for $250 and I found a 145amp alt for $100 shipped (no core). I was trying to talk my wife into a BB tune since they have a Jersey meet next week but it's all booked up now.

Its a DIY type thing, i dont think they ever sell kits for doing it. Umm youll have to buy some 0awg wire or desired thickness. and etc etc

Ah ok, for some reason I was thinking 145 stock (I think they changed to that in the later years). Yes Justin will be up in Pittsburgh in October.
