pay now for a good crank and rods, and might as well get forged pistons...look at Eagle rotating assemblies.

GM makes an assembled ht383e it is plug and play wish I had gone that route plus its a 4 bolt main vs the two bolt ours come with! 4500 cost and rated at 340 hp with 430 trq.

3/36000 warranty doesnt hurt either!

I can say the HT383 is a good solid motor. It is 90% plug and play. Make sure you have an intake of some sort and full exhaust. Next is the big step and the MOST important. A custom dyno tune, trust me I picked up a bunch of HP and TQ after the tune.

sorry man, lol. A 383 is next on the list (the major mod list) but tons of shit before that. just keep your eyes out, what yr your have? what kinda kit ya looking for.. let us know so if we come across one we can tell ya. i already seen the 96 and above kits around here locally and theres alot more of them compared to Whipples 95 kit that they stopped making 4 yrs ago..

I had 3:42 in after the new motor, I then went to 3:73, then I decised to lift and went with 4:56. It was pushing the 35s with the 3.73 no problem...however I am much happier with the 4.56 now and every now and then wish I had 4.88.

Is your truck a stock height with 265 tires?

Mine was always pretty powerful. Even on the stock motor with 3.42 gears it would break loose. Get some 4.10 and the motor with some bolt ons and you will be happy. If you have no worries about emmisions look at the some of the other 350 / 383 motors form GM they make a few nasty ones for a decent price
