I always have liked the headrest setup, much cleaner looking and they are really not in the way.

Headrests, IMO a drop down blocks the rearview mirror and I think it would end up sagging, or rattling loose with time+lots of bass.

Headrest
Interesting. I'm surprised so many people think flip downs get in the way. I never use my rear view mirror, so that's never been a real issue for me. lol

Headrests. Overheads side by side, especially larger ones, take a little more work to look as clean. The headliner starts to contour towards the edges and then you have the a/c ducting to deal with also. Not that it can't be done, it just takes more work to make them look as clean as a headrest install.

Frankly, I prefer a flip down over a headrest anytime. The biggest you can throw in a headrest is 10" and a flipdown you can put a 15" or 20". One for the 2nd row and one for the third, and your headrest won't need to be cut or replaced.

i like the headrests because like everyone else they look cleaner and have more of a factory feel but i also like the flipdown because of the large sizes plus they give the vehicle more of a bling factor. so it just depends of the theme of your truck. me, im trying to go with a classy big truck theme so id go with some 10" headrest in all 4.

Only reason I even have it (flip down) is because it was factory installed.

Has anyone had flipdown get loose and start rattling cuz of the bass? And does it happen often?

Hello everyone,
New here, getting a lot of ideas on what I can do to my '03 Yukon. Stupid question, but how do you remove the factory headrests? I have tried pulling them straight up but there is some resistance. On my old jeep there was a dial that would release them is this the same for the Yukons?
Thanks

if you haven't decided yet..i say headrests too, my factory flipdown, i dread when the kids wanna watch something, cos i do use my rear view mirror...always on the lookout for the popo. also, if i was in my back seat i'd prefer to look at a screen in front of me and not at an angle in the center

If it's installed properly you won't have that problem. Whenever I install OH monitors, I attach a mounting plate to the factory roof braces.

Headrest look cleaner in my opinion plus they wont get in the rearview mirror way. I have a couple of tview headrest screens in the closet. Never got around to installing but I think I want bigger now.

I agree. I think headrests do look somewhat cleaner than OH monitors.

I would go with headrests all the way. I worked in a stereo shop that many overheads installed by other people would fall while driving down the road. Audiovox makes headrests prematched to the interior with 9 inch monitors and a dvd built into each one. If you put 4 headrests in each person could watch a different movie or all watching one.

I just bought a 17" flip down for my truck, looking to install it in the next week or 2... i have done flipdown installs on a few vehicles and they have all turned out quite well IMO, and for me, there's a certain security with the flip down "outta sight outta mind" kinda thing, i would be afraid to come out of the mall or something and have my window busted and all my headrests missing.
my theory is, the easier they are to install, the easier they are to "uninstall"

Looking to put monitors in the back of the Hoe. What do you guys think? Two Drop down or two Head rest?
I've got the single drop down that came with the truck. If I were doing it myself, I'd go with the dual headrests.
Also, The flip-down blocks my rear view.

I have a single drop down and headrests...
the headrest are WAY better for the 2nd row.
Overhead is better/only option for 3rd row, if 2nd is occupied.
What i do I let my older son sit in the 3rd row and leave the 2nd row headrest folded so he can see the headrest.

A friend of mine has a shop. So I got a great deal on the screens. For video I have a Pioneer Avic D3 that I use as my HU and I also have a rear mounted Valor DV-170. Right now, I'm back to debating about another two in the rear head rests, or just doing a drop down. I really like the way the head rests look, but I'm worried about putting them in the second row headrest since I don't have captain's chairs.
