I'm looking to open up my headlights and paint the inside chrome pieces satin black since I've seen member TahoeVons Tahoe here. My question is, how much will it cut down light visibility if I paint the chrome refelectors behind the headlights? When I had my 08 Silverado I painted the chrome reflectors behind the turn signals and it didn't hurt the light out put to bad. My Tahoe is almost completely murdered out I just want headlights done to complete the look! Can anybody help me out?
Thanks,

I'm no expert, but I gotta believe those reflectors are in there for a reason. I'm guessing the light output would be hurt pretty significantly.

Why not just tint the whole head light?

I'm affraid that it might cut down way to much light with a tint spray or viynl stick on.

D - Just painting the OUTSIDES of the "barrels" is going to make the headlights pretty blacked-out-looking. I can't imagine painting the reflectors, since reflecting is what they're supposed to do. But painting the plastic chrome surrounds of the headlights is going to make a huge difference (and not affect the light output)... IMO.

Yeah that's what I was thinking Kirk! I could open them up and paint everything except the inside part of the barrels!:Handshake: I think I wuold paint the turn signal and DRL reflectors. I pretty much done the same thing on my Silverado that I used to have and personally thought it looked pretty good. Here's a picture.

Yeah for real, when I put my HID's in it was a butt to get the headlight out but just about as much fun getting them to go back in!:Boo::party33:

I done a set on my silverado and it was a nightmare because it got moisture in them about every other day. The ones pictured above were my stock set and they worked out fine.

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt anything, when I did my Silverado lights I had heard that the oven method wouldn't work so I put on a cutting wheel and actually had to cut off the lense and silicone it back on! That's pretty nerve racking thinking your messing up about $300-500 worth of lights if it doesn't work out lol!

I bought some headlight covers this week and stuck them on the truck! I think they look pretty good, however I may still end up taking out my headlights and painting them lol. Here's a picture of the blackouts, let me know what you think.

Yea, tahoe lights are not easy at all to get open. We have opened up a few at my shop to put halos in a paint. They are a real PITA. We have done a light spray tint on the outside of some headlights before and it came out good too. I'll try and find some pics but I know we lost alot not too long along when our system went down.

I figured they wouldn't be to fun to open them up that's why I went with the covers, but I know I will prolly end up needing to take them off for night time driving so I will prolly go ahead and paint the insides of the lights and be done lol. Please post some pictures man!
