I have 30,000k in the fogs (pink) and 12,000k in the highs and lows (purple)

to keep the tone of the truck... but im thinking i wanna do a set of 55w laser like beams in my highs that i can aim with the air ride and fry retina...

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Nastiest hids iiiiissssssssssss?

PS ... 30,000k... if you look at them unsheilded in daylight with sunglasses on ... will blind you for a solid minute. (they just dont shoot far)

aircraft landing lights ftw

or on a budget, buy some kind of headlight or round foglight - with the back part being very reflective of course - drill out holes for hid bulbs, and put about 6 of them in a circle, all within the same housing

might melt it though lol

lol i just meant what kelvin do you think tosses the most light furthest..

its a trade off.. 30k is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bright to look at but not so great for distance..

i was thinking 8000s? 6000s?

The distance would be better with 6k than 8k. It has something to do with the lumens or something like that.

well 4100k is what i have in my x2020s, i think the tradeoff starts getting more significant once you go above 5000k

Exactly what I was looking for bright white light. I've had 6k and 5k in the past but i'm not a fan of the blueish color anymore.

4300k is the brightest (throws the farthest) and is what most automakers put in their stock HID systems. Thats what I use and its great.

ive been wanting to make my headlights and fogs match, i have 4100, i think, for the headlamps, and 5000k for the fogs,

the 4100 have a hint of yellow and the 5000 a hint of blue, maybe i'll try your 4500s

I have 8000k in the fogs and low beams. 6000k will be better and put out sufficient light.

Do you have pics of the x2020's on your truck? i saw them and i'm wondering what they look like compared to stock lights. Also, what does FTW mean?

I got a vid on my camera of the HIDS in action. They are 55W in the lows and fogs and HIRs in the highs. They are sooooo piss your pants bright its not even funny. I just gotta find the cord to plug it in. Since for some reason the vid stored on the camera and not the chip.

My CTS has 4300K bulbs and they are pretty bright. The color is a super bright ass white, no yellowish or bluish tint to them. The 6000k in my truck look white until you look at it side by side with the CTS, then you can really tell the bluish tint in the 6000K. As for output, somewhere between 4100K -4300K color temperature puts out the most lumens.

In my Mazda 6 I have 55w 4300k bulbs and they are pure white. In my Denali I went with 35w 5000k and they are also pretty white but with a hint of blue. They are also blinding if you look right into them from close.

Any HIDs will blind you for a solid minute bro. 30K K is just the color, not the brightness. If anything, those 30K K HIDs will blind you less than most on the market. The higher the Kelvin rating, the more color you get but the less the output is.

If you want to blind the living shit out of someone, get the 4300K 55W bulbs from DDM. Pure white (no pink, sorry), but they put out a ton of light.

the only problem is that ddm doesnt seem to have 4300, only 4500

on a side note, any idea what the wattages would be in my x2020s? if they are 35, i wonder if i can swap them out for ddm 55s?

Yuke2K

Really? They must have changed it recently, I could have sworn I saw a 4300K kit there a couple months ago when I was looking. Oh well, 4500K is pretty close to the same thing...there isn't much discernable difference between 4300 and 4500K.

Rollin Thunder

I think I may switch to some 55 watt 4300s

If you do 55W get 5000k. The 4300k look way to yellow. Not halagon yellow. almost 3000k yellow. The color washout is to blame there. 5000k looks like 4300k. So use this scale with 55w, get the color temp higher than the color you want. 10000k looks like 8, 8 looks like 6, 6 looks like 5, and so on.

yes and yes, but I would highly reccommend making your own wiring harness then. But I dont think DDM makes 55W d1r bulbs. I would have to check.

not taking offence..(and obviously with my cam phone especially i cant get directly in the primary area)

we bought based purely on color.. but wanna do some usable highs... the pinks out of the housings looked SOOOOOOOO much brighter than the 8ks they had at the shop (when you looked at them and the intensity of light reflected back in their immediate vicinity) but seemed to almost cut off and get really dull at like 25-30 feet.

after all this im thinking 55w 6000s for highs.. for the nicest color and throw.

yea i would prob go with a 6k and the white will go with the color scheme of the truck too

Rollin Thunder

why the wiring harness? and d1r?

The xenarcs use D1R HID bulbs which is the only street legel HID bulb for a reflector housing (R is reflector). Another bulb wont fit. Also the 55W HIDS draw alot more power at startup than the 35W do, sometimes more than the stock wiring harness can give. Causing a failed start of the HID bulb, Shorting the life of the ballasts and bulbs.

doesnt ddm offer a harness for this?

thanks for the heads up on the bulbs though, brightheadlights didnt tell me this, and i almost ordered 4500k 9006's from ddm

also, i went to ddmtuning.com and they have d1r bulbs under "replacement bulbs" can i use these?

the weird thing is that d1r bulbs arent an option under the 35 and 55 watt hid kits

this is my plan and i hope it works:

buy 55w hid kit to replace the ones in my xenarcs
buy 5000k d1r bulbs (to achieve whiter light due to washout)
buy ddmtuning harness to be safe

IM not sure they make the harness for a 55W. But you will also have to swap out the ballests. So this is a big project. 55W is only better when your using a kit if you want more light. With a 35W kit in a HID housing your light is actually better than a 55W kit in a stock housing. So your already ahead of the game.

she is driving it pretty much daily now.. it just wne t back in to get some trimming done to get the back to tuck a lil more rim and to move the radiator overflow to a smaller race style one so we could cut some more fender out

trying to get it to lay side steps.. but its taking alot of work..

we just bought me an 07 c230 sport 6cyl 4dr black on black with titanium trim.... and she has been in that lately....

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo she isnt complaining too much about the truck being in the shop lol

(ps we just go engaged... put the ring in a bottle and tied it to a weight and threw it in the ocean hahahahahaha we took a walk and found it rolling up onto the sand)

lets just say i get 55W ballasts and 9006 bulbs, what if i take off the 35W ballasts and get rid of the D1R bulbs, and put the 55W kit with the 9006 bulbs in my x2020s, wouldnt that work? and be even brighter?
