View Full Version : Bully Dog is SWEEEET!
I installed the new bully dog programmer on my NBS Yukon 5.3 today. It makes all the difference. It took about an hour (30 mins manual work and 30 mins going through download). I would highly recommend it.

You have the new GT Gas Tuner W/ Driving Coach and the full monitor system?

Yes. They were just released last week. I am building this Yukon for Truckin' Magazine. You will see several write ups over several issues. When it is complete, you will see a full feature photo shoot. I have added an Airaid intake and throttle body spacer, and a yellow top Optima. This is a picture of the install in my Yukon

I have build a few vehicles and you can see them on my website. www.MarkBarbee.com
The other mods will be: custom hood (I am making a reverse cowl), leather, factory nav with memphis audio system and hidden 12 inch sub in rear driver side panel, Belltech drop kit, painted 22's on Toyo Tires, custom paint, t rex grille, IPCW lights, and more

Very easy install. The hardest part is getting the power wire through the firewall :) I took power from the 4wd fuse because I dont have 4wd.

Cool, Now, How did you plug it into the OBDII? Did you run it down behind the A-Pillar an then behind the dash and plug it in or?

almost 500 for a bully dog????!!!! I would rather do a black bear tune and not have the extra crap on my dashboard. Also BB will give you better gains in the long run.

Agreed,
Not flaming or anything. In my opinion, if i'm going to mess with the computer and spend that $$ on it, I'm going to get it "fine tuned" for a couple bucks more.
Hell, put it this way, I'm so anal that I have a guy here locally whos an LS1 specialist (well LS1-2-3 ect) I can have it dyno tuned for $250 (Mike norris motorsports and Next Level Performance). I personally feel that doing a scan cable would fine tune it even more than a dyno tune because it shows real world conditions.
If you have the money though, Bully dog would be a great alternative while your on the BB wait list!! Then, once your BB tuned, you can sell the bully dog, maybe even get a before/after dyno comparison / MPG comparison (just not at the same time, lol).
As most know, I came from a corvette forum where EVERYTHING was dyno tested/proven by others on the board (not just the product manufacturer).
I'm glad I found this forum though!

I got my corvette dyno tuned. Its intoxicating right now with all the mods on it. But I do wonder what a BB cable tune would make different.

Mine was also dyno tuned so I sound hypocritical...
I'm not trying to get off topic. EVERYTHING will work, Just whatever it is that you decide on doing for YOUR needs, make sure you research it ;) That way you can have your own opinion.

Does the Bully Dog eliminate any of the torque management?
