Usually yes. But a recent try by another user found a youtube video that may make it easier. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7CimMGCOB8

Here's my advice ... Step 1: Get the local yellow page ... if you are mechanically inclined you can figure out the rest. :p

Try the youtube video. I did it that way. Worked great. be sure to have some vice grips to lock onto those hose clamps they are a b!tch to deal with. Also I recommend buying a replacement heater valve that black plastic distributor part. Oreilly has all parts needed for about 60.00 total. I got new hoses clamps heater core and the valve.

Forget the vacume operated valve on the outside of the firewall. Do Not Re-use it!! You dont need it. Buy New heater hoses if they are the Originals you may have to buy them from the Dealer if you cannot find them at a Auto store. They have special ends on them and cannot be cobbled up with regular heater hose. Do the job right !! If you have that red or orange coolent in your system, Drain and flush that Crap out of there and run Prestone or Napa or anything that's Green. Your truck is a '95 not a '05. I have a '95 and have been running the green stuff for five years with zero problems. The '95's were the first year to run that non silicate red Crap, Dont buy into it. Hook your NEW hoses directly to the heater core inlet and outlet. Do Not Use the black plastic heater valve, Your heater will work better and your air will work just fine too. Plug the little hose that goes to the valve and enjoy the heat. You will have a nice clean set-up with no leaks, Four less clamps, and no vacume valve to worry about malfunctioning. When you add your New Prestone take off the thermostat housing, pull out the thermostat and fill the system by filling up the intake manifold which will fill up the water passages and the heater core. DO The JOB Right.

So you are saying remove the heater valve? Why would we want to remove that? I bought one new and the hoses needed whe n I installed.

I would only remove that valve if you have a reason too ... your setup, you don't so put it back. It keeps hot water from circulating thru the core during the summer.
