Popping/slapping noice when gunning it

I noticed today when I was on the highway and passing this annoying ahole that would not let me merge even though the lane to the left of him was open. I floored it, everything was fine and hauling, but there was this popping/snapping/slapping noise. Almost like those little snap pops you throw on the ground and the snap.


Any ideas?

Possible that it was spark knock from low quality fuel ?

I use 93 from the same gas station I always use, never noticed it before.

Sounds like detonation. Did you get the truck svcd before the tune? U mentioned sluggish acceleration and slipping trans before. Could be bad gas.

Serviced. No tune is going to overcome a mechanical deficiency.

Definitely agree on detonation, which is usually from bad gas. I would recommend cleaning your MAF and throttle body, and then filling up with gas from another station.
