Can you pant the crome grill. If so, will I be able to use pray paint and a clear coat?

yes but you need to scuff it just like any other surface you would be painting. i did my s10 grill cause i wanted it color-matched and used rattle can and it was pretty damn close on the color and cleared over it. the duplicolor isnt as durable as a good automotive finish but if you need to repaint a scratch you have paint left over.

Hi,

hey DG, i have a 2000 yukon and i bought a grill insert awhile back but i havent installed it yet because my grill shell is peeling. id like to get that taken care of before installing the grill insert. would it be cheaper to just buy a new one or can i go get it repaired by any paint shop. id like to retain the chrome look, is that possible on this plastic shell?

I'd just buy a new grille shell, probably cheaper than getting it painted or re-plated. They are only like $60 from RockAuto.com

you may be right about just getting a new one but it wont be cheaper.....

$59.79 for the shell + $73.51 for shipping = $133.30

nevermind i think i found something better. certifit has a location about 2hrs away from me....their price....

grille shell $46.75 + $60 on gas there and back = $106.75
plus its located right beside Traders Village in arlington,tx
not much of a price difference but at least i will get to see it before i buy it and it will not have a chance to be scratched or dented before i gets home.

sounds like a typical ebay seller imho.

OP...go see Matt at A1 Autobody in Broken Arrow and let him look at the grille. He may be able to prep and paint if for you with much better quality than a rattle can!

Ouch on the shipping...but I suppose that is to be expected on a piece that big. And it's not ebay, it's RockAuto...they generally have great prices on most things. Like new turn signal lenses for $8 each, plus $6.95 shipping. They don't rape everybody on shipping, it's probably just due to the size of the grille shell.

I bet it weights what, 8 lbs, 8 lbs from OK to MD is $9.51, UPS published rates...it's a raping :)

i agree. even if it's oversized shipping it won't be more than 25-30 bucks. places like that suck...lol...imho.

great low prices, gouge on shipping and 'handling fee'...
