rear door speakers

I want to upgrade my door speakers and originally wanted to install components in the front and rear doors. Now I am wondering is it necessary or should I just do components up front and stick to a 2way in the rear doors. The speakers I was looking at are the 6.5 Infinity Kappa 60.9cs. I started to think this after I heard some 2ways at Bestbuy. They sounded pretty good. I know I will need another amp also. I just want good clean sound. I already have 2 10" MTX for bass.

components up front, coax IMHO is fine in rear.

I have components all the way around I like em. But it'll pretty much be the same no matter which way you go. The nice thing with the component is you can put the tweeter a little higher or in a different location that is not at the bottom with the woofer so you can have some separation.

Yes seperation in sound is a good point. but is it needed. Sounds like I'm going to have to flip a coin or see what kind of deal I can find. Thx. for the feedback..

Well today as I leaned back and turned my head, I can't hear the tweeters on the door like the ones up front. Because of there low positioning. So if they were a little higher the rear fill would be better. So now it kinda has me wanting to replace the rear pillar speakers and amp them now, but I'll wait till I do the dual batt and decide what to do with my extra set of tweeters, might change out the ones in the front pillars.

I don't even have rear speakers, just front components and a single 12. Sounds just fine doing 100mph with the windows down, coaxs for rear fill if you feel it's necessary.

Proper staging and imaging would require the majority of the sound and freq response to come from the front and the rear speakers used as fill. A simple set of coaxials in the rear and components in the front would help accomplish this.

Im doing something along the same lines. Im going with a Kenwood X993 HU, Alpine Type R components in the front and prolly Type S components in the rear. Im gonna feed the fronts off a 4 channel Alpine 600 and bridge the rear channel for the sub. I will feed the rears off the deck. Should allow for a lot of flexibility.

save your money and apply it like this...

ditch the rear speakers and use the 4 channel as a 2 channel for your fronts and use the funds for the rear speakers to buy a dedicated sub amp...

As other have stated, rear fill is totally discretionary as opposed to being a must have. I have CDT Audio 6.5in components in the doors and a set of their Upstage tweeters custom mounted in my A-Pillars. I have a pair of 6.5in. CDT Audio mid-bass drivers in my rear doors. The upfront staging/imagery is amazing....while my rear doors enhance the mid range response a bit more.

I am running Type-R speakers all the way around. My setup is as follows:
Power, stock bose system
Front speakers: Type-R 6.5" components. Woofer mounted in my pods, tweeter mounted on A-pillar in my pods. The woofer is pointed up a bit, and the tweeters are directed at the driver headrest. Not the ideal setup for a true 'soundstage', but I dig it.

Rear Door speakers: Type-R 5.25" coax, mounted in my pods

D-pillar speakers: Type-R 5.25" coax, mounted in my pods

I have the rear channels turned down, and it is enough fill for my taste.

Im not going for a lot of bass, mainly just good SQ. I want the rear as fill, may go with the Alpine 6.5 coaxials or 5.25. Whatever they are. I've deployed and never actually seen my Hoe in person. Only a few more weeks tho.
