Motor and tranny swap!!!!

i have a 99 chevy 4dr lt z71 tahoe, it has the 5.7l vortec, 4l60e tranny, with 3.42:1 gears, and its slow as hell, im currently goin to a mechanic college and they say we can work on our vehicles as much as we want, so im thinkin about dropping bigger engine,tranny, then gears, any suggestions will be thankfull,

you still have to buy the parts so i would start off with a realistic budget its easy for me to say blower, 572cid, but it all comes at a cost, myself i would like a stroker small block with a 4l80e.

The 5.3 make good power and the same can be said for the 6.0. I'm doing a 6.2 swap once my 350 quits on me or when I come into some money, which ever comes first :hands: Not to mention that those motors and transmissions are dime a dozen at salvage yards.

personally easiest route is to bore her out to a 383 stroker.... but i think the new caddy 6.2 with the 6 speed tranny would be abs incrediable in an obs hoe/yuk
