Hey guys I haven't been posting much lately, been busy with work and such. ANYWAY, lately I have been hearing a whistling under the hood. I was told to replace the belt, which greatly needed it. Still the whistle persists. It seems to come from power steering pulley? Any suggestions?
well you can take the belt back off and run it. Whistle stops? If so its one of the acceseories. Spin the alt, ac, and ps by hand. Does any of them feel like they are binding?

check for vacuum leaks.

Do you have a cold air intake? My intake would do that sometimes, especially when stepping on the accelerator!!

I wish I had a CAI. It seems to only do it at idle then goes away if I give it any gas. If I get time I'm going to see if the pulleys are binding at all.

Might not go away just the engine noise overpowers it...just a thought. I had a bad intake gasket that sounded like a vaccum line...but my truck had a spratic idle from it

That was my first guess. Checked all over. Yesterday at the dealership the mechanic asked if I have heard it and said that it was common and was a pulley. Anyone else have this sound?

I had same issue on my tahoe.. Thought it was my cold air intake too.. seemed to only happen at idle, and at lower temps. YOur right - it IS the P/S pump, and there is a TSB on this issue.. but trying to find it..

That kinda sucks. It's annoying when I try to take great care of maintenance and have that stupid sound coming from under the hood. Maybe a new PS pump will fix it. I was told that because of the way they go on, replacing the pulley alone won't solve anything.
