i think i would benefit from building a new sub box. i have one of t hose generic boxes for my subs.
I just have two of the cheapie 10" alpine type E's. Right now the box is sealed, but wouldnt a ported box be better?
Also, how do i figure out how many cubic feet i need to build the box?
Im just going to build a box from MDF and cover it in fabric. are there plans on the internet to do this?

go look up the specs on the woofer. it tells you air space.

depends. Some woofers have better potential being sealed, and some come alive ported.
Ported usually is louder than sealed, but you have to be more careful ported. Make sure the woofer doesn't play below the tuning frequency of the enclosure. Power, woofers generally handle more power sealed, as it has more control. But, ported boxes takes up more room, and will be peaky around tuning frequency.
Me, add power and keep it sealed. But ported is indeed louder, if the woofer can handle the application.

about 750 bucks. I went with the cheapy P3. I want to upgrade, But space is a huge concern. I had a type R and the box is not deep enough.

is your amp 800W RMS??? ANd is that at 2 or 4 ohms. This sub is duel 4ohms making it 2 ohm. MY amp is 1000W RMS at 2 ohm. That is the max of this sub and Im going to measure my box now cause I want one. Thanks for the link.

Its both. But your power rating is different. My amps birth sheet says 1124W RMS at 2ohm and 663 RMS at 4 Ohms.
