View Full Version : Bowtie-less grille?

I have been doing some extensive searching via Google and have not been able to find the grille of my liking. I have found an image of one similar to what I am looking for but the ad states they are selling the grille inserts. I want a grille that looks like the stock grille only minus the bowtie emblem. I'm not necessarily picky if it comes with horizontal billet or mesh, I just want a clean looking grille not cluttered up by logos.

Here is the image I have found:

Is it the stock grille just with the bow tie removed? From what I have been able to gather the stock grille has the bow tie indented into the grille. Is this the case? Does this grille exist? Any info you can give me would be appreciated.

No one has any info huh? That sucks. I really hoped to find something like this for my Tahoe.

It could be but I found it on several different websites so I was inclined to think it was legit. The grille inserts are made by street scene. Here is the SKU number - S8395076147.

Here's the links I found from a quick search.

Auto Parts Way (http://www.autopartsway.com/acp/Details.cfm?ID=S8395076147&a_aid=176b5dca&data1=cardomain)

It may not be legit which would suck because I love the look of this a lot more than the other options out there, which as far as I can tell are the stock grill with billet or mesh inserts or a full mesh grill that completely replaces the stock one.

You might just have to have the holes filled/etc and repainted. Couldn't find a bigger pic, but it looks like the bow-tie sits on top and is not a inlay. Soo all the grills shouldn't have an indentation for the bowtie, but I'm not completely sure.

I like the street scenes speed grille, I say go for that one. Thats what I have on my Kon right now.

that bumper looks like it has the holes for the bowtie though.

Yea, I was just using it as a reference. Isn't that how the stock bumpers are? If so, then the holes just need to be filled/shaved repainted and bam, he just needs a grille.

no bowtie, or grill crossmember going across. reminds me of an escalade.

That's what I was hoping to hear and was my original thought as well until I examined a grille when I was out shopping Tahoes for future reference. Thanks for that pic too, makes me a little more confident that it indeed is the case. I'll just have to pop it off when I finally sell my car and buy one and find out for sure. If so this grille will follow shortly for sure.

Yeah, I've seen that one too. Other than using the stock grille with custom inserts that is the only style grille I have been able to find.

have you looked at the RPB and No fear grilles yet? They are pricey, but pretty cool looking. I am still looking at the No fear ones, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm still waiting for someone else to do a writeup on the install. I'm more worried about wrecking the bumper cover since you have to cut the upper portion out.

If I could figure out how to remove the insert, I would just repaint mine.

Have you looked at Stylin Trucks yet? They carry a Grille conversion kit that allows you to run a GMC Denali grille insert without a emblem.

This is what it looks like with the grill removed.... so yes there would need to be some filling done to cover up the indention and holes.

Also check out GodFather Customs saw they also make a bowtie less grille as well...

Thanks for all of the tips guys. I checked out the suggestions you all gave me. Thanks too for the closeup of the stock grill without the bowtie. It doesn't look like it would be all that difficult to fill it and then buy the inserts from SS in my original post.

That picture is very photoshopped. But I would love to see a real grille like that.

I know this is an old post, but here's my "Bowtieless" grille. Not a good pic though (taken with my phone).

And here's the sideview...no shot of the grille, but you can see what the rest of it looks like.

Thanks Clay.. this was my post originally. I ended up finding an 01 with really low miles so I went that route instead but yours looks exactly what I had in mind.
