My 5.3 gets 21-22 on the highway and 17.5-18.5 off. A 6.2 cannot touch that. For that matter, the 09 with a 6 speed makes a hybrid purchase look silly.

Appreciate the input guys. It doesn't matter if it's 08 or 09, I thought they came out in 09, what would matter is the denalis AWD, that would lessen the MPG. Since the 4.8 doesn't get as well of mileage as the 5.3, I was just looking to compare.. From scottricks post, it seems to be the same "driver dependant on heaviness of the foot".

with cruise on goin about 65 i was getting around 20-21 mpg with premium gas while i was home, now it has a volant and resonator delete, so i cant wait to compare... goin from boston to florida in november with it, 4 people and some baggage... so that will be the test

My 08 Yukon Xl 11.9 mpg on the display all the time. When checked with real world it is pretty accurate. Most of my driving is not highway.

best I am getting with my 09 6.2L 4wd is 16 hwy 14-15 in town. I think to get better than 16 you have to keep speed under 65. Anything over and MPG drops fast.

I notice that with the 5.3 as well (20-22hwy and 14-18 city, but if i'm on cruise control anywhere from 45-55 I average 22-26). However I blame that on the gearing. Isn't the 6.2 a 6sp auto?

Yes the 6.2L has a 6-speed auto. I tihnk I am at around 1700 at 65-70. At 80 around 2000. This is were gas MPG drops to about 14 maybe 15.
I have 3k miles on the truck I hope after about 10k the mpg is better.
