np246 transfer case problem?

Hello everyone, I am having a problem with my 2001 yukon xl and I cant seem to find the info I am looking for to properly diagnose the symptoms. This is what I have going on: the transfer case seems to function, (no lights on) but my front drive shaft spins even in 2wd. I can feel a vibration from the front driveshaft under my feet when driving and it is driving me crazy. Does anyone know if this driveshaft is supposed to spin when it isn't in 4wd? If it is what is the likely cause of the vibration? I keep throwing money at this problem with no luck in correcting it. Thanks for any insight you may be able to provide me.

Perfectly normal. I have a 2002, front driveshaft also spins when in 2wd. From my research there is our vesion (spins in 2wd) and newer version in newer trucks that does not spin in 2wd. Are you're U-joints going on the front driveshaft? That could cause some vibration. Easy check is to just get under there and see if there is any play in the joints.
