I was going to clean it in the tahoe and was wondering should i take it off or just clean it with it on it? i was looking at it tonight and opened it up and it is black in there should i clean it?

I say take it off NOT that hard to do...three bolts and you can efficiently clean and dry it w/o worrying about anything getting into the manifolds and fukin shit up.

I took mine off with no prob with b12 replaced gasket also cleaned egr while it was off also changed gasket ran a hell off alot better

where is the egr valve at and how did you clean it

behind the tb on the left looks like ah flyin saucer with a vac line on top 2 bolts easy to take easier with the tb off spray it off with cleaner wipe it down replace gasket job done

On the 96-99 vortec the EGR sits on the front of the motor between the a/c compressor and thermostat housing. Clean it and by a new gasket with a screen on it from your autoparts store to help keep it clean. If you need help pm me.
