So I have this Ideal that I know works but want to know if its safe. I started putting NOS octane booster in my gas tank. I did this because the west coast only friggin sells 91 octane( versus 93 octane on the east coast but dont know if there is a significant difference). The OB says up to 6 rating numbers, so at the most I would be burning 97 octane. I use those exspensive spark plugs( iridium I think) so I should have a hotter spark to burn it. Gas mileage went out the roof, averaging around 100-150 highway miles before the gas needle moves below the F! but am i slowly Fucking something up? its like crack, cause the performance goes out the roof, and I cant stop putting it in there! Yay or nay on it before I do some damage or get a ticket.

orly? wtf??
Um i heard octane boosters and shit mess up your injectors:badidea: thats my 2cents tho.. But if you think saving money at the pump will eventually buy a new set of injectors, keep doing it! lol...

OK first things first. What mods are you running that require high octane fuel, first of all? Tune?
Secondly, theres no way you're getting 6 full octane points out of a 10 dollar bottle of octane booster. People have done study upon study with a whole bunch of different brands, and none of them amount to shit. When they say that you're getting "6 octane points", that means you're going from 91 to 91.6 for a full tank of gas, NOT 97 octane. You'll get maybe 1 full point for about 5 gallons of fuel. They are a scam most of the time.
I do think that NOS puts out a better product than most, but at the MOST you're probably only seeing a couple extra full points per tank. You shouldn't use it constantly though...most of the octane boosters on the market rely on a chemical compound called MMT (methyl cyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl or something like that), which can really mess up your sensors over time.
If its working for you, great. But use it sparingly.

so if one bottle gives up that much. Can I put 6 in and then have the performance of a formula 1 car???

Pretty sure you were just being a smartass as usual lol...but to honestly answer your question, no, you can't. The formulations are such that once you reach a certain level of the product, you actually start degrading performance. It's gotta have a certain ratio of gasoline to work right.

Well I have a flashpaq 91 octane tune. and the gas round her is not that good so I started using octane booster. Got the NOS cause it was $15. tried it out and I noticed a big difference! i used it cause with the tune it goes thru gas even more, and it help out on my mileage real good.

Yeah I figured you had a tuner of some type. I know I'm beating the official TYF dead horse by saying this...but sell the flashpaq and get a Black Bear tune. You'll see excellent gains in both power AND fuel economy without having to use that stuff.
I went from a mixed city/hwy average of 13.5 mpg up to an average of about 17 now, thanks to a BBP 91 octane tune and fixing a minor air intake leak. Best I've gotten mixed city/hwy was 18.8, AND thats with my truck being leveled front and rear running 285s. I don't care who you are, a gain of 5.3mpg is fucking awesome. I'm taking a road trip out to CA next week for vacation and I'll be installing an AEM Brute Force before we leave, so I'm looking forward to seeing how much the mileage goes up. I'm really hoping to kiss the 20mpg mark.

+1, i got the 91 octane tune and it definitely helped out in power and mileage

buying 91 or higher gas octane compared to 87 takes your 5 miles away tho

interesting, have you seen any numbers on paper that show this stuff is doing anything positive, performance wise

We only use it when we get a tank of crappy gas. It will alleviate the pinging.

plan on getting the black bear tune ans soon as I finish my performance mods, belive me its coming! But until then just wanted to know if this was a biggie. I cant wait until I get the tune. but i must say the flashpaq tune is a BIG upgrade from stock. I do almost 90mph everywhere I go( I know I need to quit but its so fun) with ease now and 24's. but still cant wait to get the BB tune.

Yes, dont waste your money. I use no additives anymore, as most of them are scams. I just seafoam every now and then.

But the truck drives light years better now, the difference is night and day. The higher fuel costs are negligible, and the performance is worth it to me. I'm still basically breaking even on fuel costs AND have the performance to boot. I'm cool w/ that.

I'm on the corn 105 ocatane $2.04/gal, I love it. I was on the fence but since one of the two stations in Phoenix is about a mile from my house I decided to give it a shot and my consensus is it's worth it since it's so convenient. It is about 25% less efficient but it's about 30% cheaper than 91 octane unleaded so there is slight $$ saving but it's 105 octane and you can only get 91 at the pump here in Phx. There are a few spots that sell 100+ unleaded but it's like $7+/gallon. I'm went from like 15mpg's in the city with the AC on in the hot ass summer(I was getting 17+ in the winter) to 11-12 with the corn gas ........ like I said it's a wash but I think my rig is running better with it and it's right near my crib so why not.........
