slight shift knob problem

all of a sudden today my shift knob seems kinda loose and it gives me trouble putting it into park, even when i got it into park it still seemed loose and have to make sure it is set back so i can take my key out. Seems like a lot of damage to have in one day and not having it gradually getting looser and looser. ANY COMMENTS/ ANSWERS?

You might have to drop the column and tighten the shifter shaft hold down bolts.

word. that's what i was getting at. i think it's 2 bolts to drop the column and then two more bolts for that.

ook, i havnt looked yet, but where are the bolts going to be to drop the column so i know where to look
