View Full Version : Best tire shine?
...and not the kind that splashes all over the exterior paint when driving. :emotions122: Been happy using Mothers FX Tire Shine but want something with a little more lasting shine.
Any suggestions? TIA

I like using Black Magic. It stays shiny for quite a while and I haven't noticed it getting anything on the paint. I use it almost exclusively since I found it about 6 years ago...

Meguiars HOT SHINE Tire spray is what I use now with great results. I used to use the thick tire gels from black magic and others but they would always fly off the car and leave stains on my paint. So far I have had great luck with this one.
Will look into the suggestions. I don't the want super wet look just a good shine and one that will last between washes.

Yea I hate that crap. Every time I would take it to a car wash they would put some tire shine on. Looked really good and stayed shiny for a while but would get all over the fender flare's

Best thing I have used is Meguiar's Endurance, any of the gel stuff works the best I have found. But it's still good to buff off any excess after it sets in, gel or not.

just tried black magic tire gel which comes with a foam applicator and claims to last for weeks, just let it try for 15 minutes or so and it wont fling all over your paint, i really like it just not sure yet how long it lasts

I have been using it as well. Works great for the cost. I do hate the applicator process it is messy putting it on but better then the aerosol styles that end up all over the wheels.

I got some new kind. Turtle wax F2 spray foam. It's terrible. I hated applicator kind with tires this size it takes forever. Might go back to the good ole armor all foam.

Megs endurance in aerosol can, its extreme gloss and wet look for aprox 2 weeks then it matts out to a pure black for months.
can wipe it after spraying to remove alot of the wet gloss if you like..

I've notice that using a $2 2" disposable paint brush works great to apply the tire shine. You can spray it on the tire and spread it with the brush or spray the tire shine on the brush and apply it.

No, it's a cream that you would use an applicator or rag to apply. The picture on the right of my sig shows the finish it leaves.
Here's another pic of the tire dressing on a low profile tire. I love working on this car. :)

Being a cream is it messy at all? I love the finish it leaves and the "no sling" intrigues me :)

Not messy at all. You need very little as it spreads easily.

This stuff is amazing. Put it on MAYBE 3 times a year. I only have to put it on the wifes ride twice a year...

I love the Adams Super VRT. Its like a lotion or cream that doesn't have the tires looking super shiny or wet. Just the right amount of sheen IMO. Plus it last damn near forever!

Cover All is real good (5 stars) and it is an aerosol. Best if spray on tire dressing applicator in a area with out a wind draft, say inside garage and wipe on tires. Having a blk truck, when you get to spraying Cover All directly on the tire it leaves over spray on truck and those spots irritate me. Cover All is made by Superior Products and I have been using their products for a while. They have tons of detailing supply's I get through my partner which sales to a lot of the hand car washes in Chicago. They have auto air freshener in all scents. But back to the tire shine, that's the one I use and at the moment O'rileys is the only place I see that stocks it, and cheaper than the Endurance by Meguiars that I used to use. You can see tire in picture and when after a few days just take old rag and wipe tire and shine is still there, and just keep that rag for later wipes and it will keep some of the product in rag and gives it a nice shine for future wipe.

I use Armor All Extreme tire gel... I usually apply it at night or when I know I won't be driving for atleast a few hrs so it can dry. No sling if done correctly.
For those using the spray how do you keep it off your wheels?

Got the armor all hot shine stuff with the sponge applicator. Works pretty good. I think it is really important to use a good wheel and tire cleaner first. I got the armor all cleaner for tires and used that all over. 10 days and tires are still shiny.
