bought a volant CAI for my truck the other day. what a mess. heres a couple pics and videos..
Red arrow- Had to use factory bolt and wing nut bcuz volants didnt fit. volants bolt wasnt the correct shape to be screwd into the throttle body and into the top of the intake tube (wouldnt happen)
Orange arrow- not even sure if im supposed to use this factory ring or not. Volants rubber/foam gasket thats supposed to sit on the throttle body didnt fit
Blue arrow- The tube like isnt long enough for me to hose clamp the filter to the tube and for it to stay.. it needs to be like an inch longer..
the filter is way to big for that small box that gave me. stupid design
also lost that engine light with the cord to it with this big volant box(didnt care much tho)
The factory air box holes into the wheel well didnt work for volants, will have to drill new holes.
Im not sure what im going to do from here.. anyone want to buy to see if it fits on theirs?? im kinda stuck.. thought it would be better then my air filter now.. (look at pic) lol

this video is just a mock. nothings like really bolted down since my "problems" i have ran into..

Just ask him see if he can help if you dont ask you dont know. Whatever you do get it right you have a great looking truck and have spent a lot of time on it way too much to have a kit like that on there.

drop him a pm, that may also notify him by e-mail. I thought at one point he posted his number at work too.
From his introduction post: he offered to help another member here. I would simply tell him how you know of him and I bet he will hook you up. 909 476 7225 just ask for Daniel

Whats up, sorry I did not catch this earlier I spend my days in the 2000-06 section, just by looking at the photo the trim sponge should be outside of the box not the inside fixing that will leave you plenty of room to clamp the filter on, As for the hole in the fender, the wheel well holes are oversized when you mount the box just hand tighten the bolts and adjust the box then go back and tighten them, As for the throttle body gasket it is a direct stamp of the carb make sure you do not have it upside down 90% of the time this is the problem, you do not use the OEM gasket, Does your stud have a 45 degree bend or a 90 it should be a 45 give me a call I wont be in tell tuesday so here is my cell 909 809 8242 thanks Daniel ps pm me your address so I can send you another filter that one looks a little worn out the filters crush like that when they are not serviced correctly

I'm having issues with Volant fitment as well. Do you have an e-mail adress so I can send you pics.
1) Cover over box doesn't fit nor line up. Only 3 out 4 screws fit.

2) The box doesn't fit OEM side fender well wall

3) Rubber gaskets, not a clue where those go!

Why am I bitchen about the cover...I really want to put her in a car show.
Why am I bitchen bout fitment, performance would be improved if it was actually sucking in the cold air from OEM side fenderwell vent. Also the box would be bolted on to the truck and I don't have to worry about my MSD bozx hitting the battery terminals. Also would clean up engine bay a bit.

Hmmmm, maybe I should of gone with Volant instead of K&N

well let me tell you how this "care package" is and if it gets here.. then ill actually test the intake for a week and tell you guys how it is.. don't buy it quite just yet :) nothing against volant or anything, but i haven't gotten anything, and without this care package, i don't think it matters and doesn't fit right :/

What type of perforance can you expect from. Better than K&N or any other or about he same. I am sure it will be better than my stock intake with a homemade adapter and a K&N filter.

You will see a greater throttle response, I haven't checked my mileage but I am sure it has also increased. Haven't ran a K&N so I can not tell you which is better. I do know a lot of guys do no like the K&Ns because they are not fully enclosed like the Volants.

id rather spend the money on something that looks as good as it performs instead of running dryer hoses and making it look like hell. IMO.
