Last week I had the extreme pleasure of replacing a hub bearing on Big Sexy.

Thought it was gonna be an easy job right? I mean I got a 2wd. Just drop the wheel, remove caliper, rotor, and 3 15mm bolts that fasten the hub bearing to the spindle and viola, out she comes right.

Not this mother humper. What shoulda been a 30min job, ended up turning into a 3 hour job.

I got a lil propane torch and I'm heating the spindle up. I'm spraying penetrating oil too. I'm out there hammering away on the old wore out hub bearing, and the S.O.B. just doesnt want to budge.

So I finally said f'it, out come the big guns. When in doubt get a bigger hammer right.

Finally after what must've been over 400 whacks, the hub bearing decided to come out.

Thanks to living in a RUST BELT, the 30 minute job took 3 hours. Man if I have to work on any cars or trucks to make a few buck on the side, I'm gonna quote more time.

if it took you 400 whacks you still did not have a big enough hammer :D

Hey Sepiroth, I feel ya I had to do this twice once when I changed out the spindels when I lowered it and again when I kept getting a vibration in the front after I was done lowering it! So I did both and the first time I heated it up with a torch going around the entire spindel and soaking it with PB BLASTER works wonders!!! I had to beat it out as well but as much and before I put them back in I slapped alot grease on them so when I ended up doing this for the second time to put the new one's in they came sliding right out! Now after all that it wasn't even the problem! It ended up being a bad U Joint causing the vibration!

Yea me too! I mean i was able to use a Ball Pein hammer and wide blade chisel and rotated the stud area so I wasn't hitting the same place too much and got them to come out that way.
