I will get a sound clip up but, for now ill explain.
When starting up my truck. It sounds like the engine is a small prop plane starting. Like a giant fan is overpowering the engine. When driving its very loud for a good mile or so. But then After that mile or so it will quiet down and will sound like the nice 350 purr. Im assuming its just my engine warming up?
But, even after driving it a long distance, than shutting it off and starting it back up immediately it sounds loud again. Normal?
My dad says all the older chevys did this. But hes an a hole so. Im asking you guys.
My main reason for asking is, my friends 99 hoe does not do this. Its pretty quiet on startup

yep. If you fire them up cold and drive off, sounds like a lawn mower under your hood.

Its just chevys period. My 07 yukon and 07 corvette have these incredibly loud fans that you can here over everything. Silverado has it a bit, but with my exhaust I dont notice it really.

Yes it is normal. Its just the engine driven fan, its got a clutch on it so it doesn't run at 100% all of the time. Mine does it too on cold starts if I take off right away.
The Vette on the other hand seems kinda strange though since its electric. Mabye they turn on when the car starts and then shut off, or your running the AC??? My Camaro with electric fans doesn't do that at all, unless its getting warm, or I forget to turn off the manual over ride LOL

well their super loud when ever the engine idles for a long time, But all the time in the morning when first started, not sure why as you would think you want it to warm up quicker.

I never said that I wanted it to warm up quicker, where did you get that from? I just said that I have never heard of the fans coming on at first startup unless its a clutch fan or you left the AC on.
I know if you sit and idle that the fans will come on, I would hope so anyway, otherwise you would be just sitting there overheating your engine

My tahoe (efans) does NOT do this on start up. Only on hot days or exented idling.
