Im wanting to get a new intake but have decided that metal ones get too hot. I like the idea of the airaid jr but its pricey. I was thinking of getting some pvc and trying to bend it. Is this a bad idea? Anyone else do similar? Will it stay cool?

Several silverado guys have used pvc for intake tubing and made it work but i personally think its tacky looking lol
I had an airaid jr on my silvy then picked up some silicone pieces and it works well also..
Just noticed your in So IN..Where abouts??

It's very easy and cheap.
Go to ant exhaust shop get 2 foot of 4" diesel exhaust.
Either call diesel performance shop or order from summit racing,
Get 2 straight 4" silicone flex sections and a 90' bend.
Trim upper fan shroud back just enough to clear pipping and cut tubes to fit.
Coat pipe with spray on Berliner or underbody coating to insulate it or use black header wrap.
Now it's all black and pretty and you spent less then 70$ and it looks as good as it gets for cheap custom intake tube.
Do the Swiss chese mod to airbox and remove the plate below airbox.
Use what ever filter you want.

Just save yourself the time & possibly some money and just buy the ebay intake.

I have heard some bad things about PVC... that it emits gasses that are poisonous can leak into your cab
I am trying to think of the name of it... its the black piping instead... ABS piping i think? I got some from Lowes
