If I'm jacking up the Tahoe, about how heavy should that jack be? There are several models to choose from at my local store. They range from 2.5 to 3 to 3.5 tons. Which one would be sufficient?

2.5 ton is fine, if you're doing one wheel, or even the front half or the back half. Make sure you get jack stands too. Get the 2.5 ton jack, and the 2 ton jack stands. Jack one wheel up, throw a jack stand under it, jack up the other side, throw a jack stand under it. Jack stands will save you from a lot of agony in the long run.

For my flat tire kit, I still have a little ghetto scissor jack that isn't rated, that works great. But it isn't much fun to use.

Hey thanks. I had bought a 2.5 ton hydraulic jack and used it, but I wanted to verify that it was actually enough to keep it up there. I do need to grab some jack stands though. Changing my brakes was a little unnerving with just the jack holding the truck up.

You're gonna want to get actual stands. Having a Hoe land on you won't be fun.

Especially a Hoe as big and ugly as mine...
