I may have a good deal on a low mile LT1 cam, but I don't know if it would be worth the time to install it.

What are the specs on the stock vortec cam?

LT1 cam is
Duration---lift w/1.5---lift w/1.6----lobe
230/208---.450/.460---.480/.491---116 or 117

And the vortec is as follows as far as I have found
191/196---.418/.430---.446/.458---111

So would an LT1 cam be worth the work? I know it wouldn't hurt at all, but thats quite a bit of work to install a cam

Anyone? I'm getting the cam, its only got 30k miles on it and my tahoe has got 163k and needs new intake gaskets and a timing chain so a cam swap would be super simple. Then I could add 1.6 roller rockers and a black bear tune. I figure it couldn't hurt.

Opinions welcome, BTW I'm getting the cam for like $25 shipped :D

Well I figured with a new timing chain alone it would help alot, but adding a little bit bigger cam and tuning I think it will run really nice and have some good top end power.
