When I first had the system done it felt great, bass was awesome. Not it feels like normal, and having me wanting to put another 12" in. Is it just me or does a system loose bass after a while. Just asking as I know this can vary by the person.

You get used to it. When I had my Expedition with eight 12"s, it was f'ing loud and hurt. After while, I wanted to add more. Maybe I was just going deaf...
roll a vehicle with a stock stereo for a week, then drive your truck.

Driving the yuk I definatly notice the difference, but I always thought the GMt900 had a weak system, my stock bose in the silverado sounded so much better than the stock in the yukon lol. I have to go all the way up in the yukon to get 1/6th the preformance of the silverado now. lol.

pics?
Here are some. I'll have to scan the rest of my pics and upload them. This was about 7 years ago; you can tell by the original XBox and PS2 I installed and the size of the screens before larger ones started coming out.

Just about every stock system sound weak, including factory premium systems like Bose, Mach, Monsoon, Harmon Kardin, etc. Some of the Mark Levinson systems in some model Lexus' and the newer Lexicon systems sound decent though.

Haha. I was going to add four more subs and another 5000W amp, but ended up splitting the roof with a 6" crack. This thing tore the truck up; broke the rear wiper mount twice, cracked the mounting plates to the liftgate hinges, sheared off one of the liftgate strut's mounting bolt, and broke the hinges to the rear side windows three times. In the Dec '03 issue of Ford Truck World magazine, it shows a pic of where the metal started cracking around both of the liftgate hinges (the truck was featured in a 3pg article).
And I couldn't drive the truck with the system playing hard cuz the engine would stumble from the knock sensors retarding the timing everytime the bass would hit a certain frequency.
So anyway, after I noticed the crack in the roof, I pulled everything out and sold the truck.

I AM OBSESSED WITH BASS! Right now have to get my amps fixed and im going nuts without bass, I obsessed with it from my room stereo, so i got into it in 7th grade and i installed my first stereo in my moms new Grand Cherokee, had 2 12in Punches on a 600watt Kenwood in there, so i have had stereo in my vehicles since then, in high school i had 4 15in Memphis' in my 99' tahoe and i ended up breaking the window seals and basically made everything loose in the truck, got 3 15in Kicker CVX's now and it made all my a/c knobs for the rear air fall out, rearview mirror fall, back hatch window doesnt open and the rear windshield wiper doesnt work anymore either. I always still want more!

lol. I didn't take any pics of the roof crack, but I do have one somewhere of the metal cracking around the liftgate hinge mounting plates from the stress of the constant pounding it was taking. I'll try to find it and post once I get home.

Wow, someone bought it off you with the crack?
RT, yea, I think you get used to the bass. I always wanted more on my 95 silvey because I thought it wasn't enough.

This is very true. I have a very nice stereo setup in my grand prix and i miss it all the time i'm driving my tahoe. I ended up putting in just a MTX thunderform simply to help the stock bose because i don't want to lose all my cargo space like i did in my car. Plus any time i really need the bass i just drive the car.

Here are some pics of the magazine article and the cracks in the liftgate plates. This was back in 2003, so you might notice some of the equipment is old school, like the original Xbox and PS2. This was also back when 7" screens were avg size before the bigger 15" screens were out.

The highlighted circular area in the right picture shows the metal mounting plate cracking, on both sides of both hinges:

The door panels I fiberglassed: 8" Kicker resolution midbass, 5 1/4" components:

nice work, I have some RMB8 kickers I need to install once I drop dime on sound deadener.

im sure you had the same problem, but the back of my old tahoe used to stay damp cus of the seals being broken on the windows from the bass, my sub box ended up getting mold built up on it lol

I've had my w7's for about a year now.. but just got back from a 7 month deployment.. take it from me.. when you hear your system for the first time after 7 months.. oh it's so amazing.
Now i'm getting used to it again.. the thought of a 3rd w7 crossed my mind seeing as I already have a JL 500.1 amp just sitting in the closet.

We did 9 jlw6 12s in the extended cab of a nissan hardbody (96) and it too up so much room the box had to be built so the seat would lean back into it just so i could fit inside to drive... the amps were in the bed 9000watts... and ever since then i care ALOT more about quality of sound than quantity.
It was only fun at shows or when you felt like being an a$$hole.
Im thinking exelon 8s in the yukons doors (to match the sixs and 5 1/4s already there though now and a custom center console with 3 down firing jl 10s.
and keep my 3 12w3s (sealed) in the rear.. all super hidden discreet stuff.. but with a massive sound range.

mashed out.. 9 12w6s 4 8w6s 8 jl 6.5s and 6 6x9s
Edit(just realized the sub box wasnt built yet in this pic.. oh well its 1 of the only 2 pics i have left of it. Taken the same day)

When you add another sub make sure you add not only the amp but adequate wiring and circuit protection.
Yes, you get used to Bass.
