Ok guys, i just did a small road trip from phoenix to Pasadina CA...
I got in late last night and when i pulled into the hotel parking lot the trucks idle kicked WAAYYY down for a second, almost died... then this morning on my way to the store i think the truck was running just a bit rough...
any ideas? things to check?
(also on a side note, how can i tell if i have an exhaust leak at or near the exhaust manafold? It kinda sounds like there is one)

when it did the low idle thing were you parking?? Or already parked. Sometimes your powersteering pump will do that. Running rough im not sure.

man it was like 2am.... i was backing into the parking spot, i suppose i may have been turning the wheel one way or another... hard to recal exactly though
i really think i have an exhaust leak that may have worsened over the course of the 300 mile drive

Chances are that if you hear the exhaust leak under the hood, your leak is at the manifold.
If you hear the leak under the truck, it could be the Y pipe or other bolted part.

intake gaskets, not exhaust gaskets.

yes but he is probably talking about my theory on the exhaust leak

intake gasket, mine took a shit on me, ran rough at first then progressively got worse until it would shudder and die while idling. Start her up and drive her around for a few min then let it idle and see what happens.

how much is an intake gasket?

Sounds like an intake issue for sure.

Sounds like an intake issue for sure.
curious jenna.... could this maybe have something to do with the issues i was having when Justin was tuning my truck... and has now just evolved into a slightly larger problem?

Quite possibly. You might have a cracked intake manifold...

You could do it yourself, but it does take time and you would need to read up a bit.

you wouldnt happen to be able to point me in the direction of the reading i need to do? i will probably take it to the shop anyways, but i also like knowing what i am talking about when the mechanic starts in with his high horse banter

Google is your friend. You might be able to find some pics of what to look for too.
Manifold gaskets aren't too bad, but try to find a buddy you trust that will do it cheap first. Those things can be a serious pain in the ass if the gasket is all chipped up and gross, or you can just sack up and buy a blower from Jenna to solve the issue

believe me, i would be all about getting a blower, just not enough $$ floating around right now. I am going to take it in for a diagnostic when i get back into town, if its going to require buying a new I.M. I will just drop the $100 on my warranty and get er done that way

if it is a cracked intake, I bet they are dime a dozen at salvage yards.
