I'm ordering one in a few weeks, but would like to see the different styles. I was going to order one from summit since they are only $100 but they are fiberglass and I kinda want steel, but for the price I don't know.

But post some pics of your rollpan and some info of where you got it.

I would stay away from fiberglass if possible. Steel and urethane will hold up much better. Steel is easily repairable if you bump into anything, and you can weld the gaps between the pan and quarters for a seamless, clean look. Urethane is flexible and not near as easily damaged as fiberglass, which will crack if you bump into something or lightly rearended.
I have a urethane piece from stylintrucks.com. They have a decent selection of steel and urethane rollpans.

I have a steel one on my truck now.. I can not complain with it one bit, but make sure make sure you undercoat or paint or grease the FUCK out of it. lol..
bought mine for 85 bucks or 90 bucks.. heres a couple sites!!

I'm pretty sure the trucks are different than that tahoes and surburbans, but I gould be wrong.

I'd like to get a steel one, but I really can't afford to spend $250 (Sir Mikes) on one for a while. But Icould drop $100 and not have to worry about it. If I did get steel I wouldn't weld in in just incase I were to get rearended. But if I did the person responsible would have to pay for everything :)

I was curious if anyone has used the summit roll pan to see how it fit. If its going to be way off then I'll wait for the Sir Mikes but I'mstill looking

Thanks guys

Save for steel it will save you in the long run. If I had FB I would have been on 3rd one. Both due to hit and runs. If you get rear ended you won the lottery anyway.

U got Hit N Run twice therefore I'm the Loser.

Yeah that sucks man, but I have a driveway and most places I go either have cameras or is off street parking.

I can't afford to spend any money right now anyway with 2 trips coming up, but FBI has steel ones for $180 or so, but I'm pretty sure they will have to be welded in :( I'd rather have the bolt in just incase for minor incidents so I wouldn't have to cut it out or whatever.

But post pics guys if you have any.

what are you going to do with your bumper that you have on it now?? and remember that once you cut your frame, your cutting off your bumper mounts if you ever want to put a regular bumper back on it. make sure its not illegal or else youd be getting tickets quite often..

You don't have to weld in a steel roll pan. I didn't weld mine in THANK GOD! Just make sure your roll pan comes with a licence plate bucket so you can mount your license plate and aviod hastle and tickets.

REMEMBER your bumper mounts have to be cut. AND U LOOSE THE ABILITY to have your spare tire under the vechile as well as hitch.

roadrageror
06-17-2009, 11:19 PM
Bumper is going in the shed with all the other parts I took off. Ya I was lookin at the pics where it got cut off. Mine is steel but bolt on. Probally get it welded when I get new paint...don't know when that is. Got the licence plate bucket. Mine has the opening behind the plate for the hidden hitch. In case I find a little Boler trailer to go campin with.

AtomicHoe094
06-17-2009, 11:34 PM
hidden hitch! nice.. lol.. i never even tried to hook mine back up to see if it would fit. i remember the tire looked ugly as hell with it up there..
Idk if i ever kept the steel that i cut off or no.. ill jsut have to keep replacing roll pan after roll pans then. (rust, accidents or whatever may come)...

does anyone know of a roll pan with 2 holes for some 4 inch tips to stick through? When i do my roll pan i want to change my exhaust so it comes through the pan and looks all clean. Anyone ever see this done

AtomicHoe094

I saw a fiberglass(I think) one with the holes with a chrome ring around the opening. It was on a 90s s/b gmc. Not sure how big tho. Looked not bad, the tips were rolled in.

So where are you guys getting your roll pans? I plan on getting one with the liscense plate cntered and getting a hidden hitch so I can still pull a boat or snowmoblie trailer :D I don't have a hitch right now and have been holding off until I get a roll pan and using the bumper to pull stuff

Yeah sorry, but tips aren't suppost to go through the roll pan.

I will more then likely be building the entire exhaust for my tahoe, it can't be any harder than my Camaro and that has true duals over the axle and the tahoe will be a single 3" Then I can keep everything hidden, the way its suppost to be :D

hey atomic what did you use to cut the rear bumper hangers off with? plasma cutter, wheel grinder?

i think a wheel or a sawzaa:superhack:
if you look closely i tried to like make my cut as smooth as possible against the rollpan.. so like i cut the frame to sit nice and close to the rollpan so if anyone does hit me, it wont cause a shitload of damage to my rollpan..

roadrageror
06-22-2009, 02:28 PM
ya i noticed the curved cut there.it would help support it a bit too.i couldnt tell but it looked like a nice clean cut...still a week or so til i get mine.and im still waitin for my antenna and licence plate frame from GODFATHER Customs..like 5 weeks now.i see why you dont like them.i have already called them twice!!! anyway i think ill just look at your pics when im cutting my rear hangers off. THANKS.

AtomicHoe094
06-22-2009, 03:11 PM
sorry to hear that.. damn that sucks.. just make sure you undercoat or paint the hell out of it on the back side. even tho i havent gone through any winters, you can see rust forming.. i primed it, painted it, por15 it and grease that sob.. lol

roadrageror
06-22-2009, 03:54 PM
i was going to ask why you said grease it.i think ill go with the undercoat, there is a shop just down the road from me.

roadrageror
06-25-2009, 06:40 PM
I'll take everything off, hitch, bumper and saw the hangers but not paint it. I don't have any tools of the trade. My buddy will do it after hours at the shop he works at for cheap. But I'll get some touch up paint from him and do a roof rack delete also to paint the bolts!

Ninety5PoloZ
06-28-2009, 10:14 PM
Wheres the pics :D

I will be shaving the roof rack this week on my tahoe. After I lowered it I can't stand looking at it. I might weld up the holes and spray it quick, or just put bolts in it until I repaint the hoe this summer

hey Atomic did you have to take out all the spare tire stuff under your HOE also? i was up under the KON today and it looked like my tow package was tied into it and i dont use the spare tire holder anyway.whatcha think take it all out or does it act as some sort of cross member for the rear of the truck. i got my new amp today so i held off on removing the metal from the rear.i did put wd-40 on most the bolts tho so it should be easier by tomorrow.

AtomicHoe094
07-03-2009, 01:33 AM

LOL thats shitty but awesome at the same time, I have been to a few places like that before. But most of the time its too good of a deal to pass on, even though you know something is wrong with the deal.

Kinda like buying something that you know is stolen, but the price is right :mexsmoke:

But let me know if you find anything out, I'll try to call the 1 by me sometime though too

so what is the deal with sir michals roll pans? Are they worth it? I have a hook up for one. Free. Dude just wants to trade my stock bumper for the roll can what do you all think? Should i do it? And what do i need to do to install the pan?

AtomicHoe094
07-08-2009, 12:33 AM
id do it.. those are expensive.. hidden hitch plate??? weld it or bolt on (welder or bolts basically) .. do it.. oh and youll need grinder/ saw to cut your frame : )

roadrageror
07-08-2009, 07:42 AM
sounds like a good deal since you cant put your bumper back on anyway due to cutting the frame.

DJTricky
07-08-2009, 11:35 PM
so i picked up my new pan. He said just bring him my bumper once i get the pan on. So one major question. What if i welded some brackets to the back of the roll pan. Its a weld on style. Had anyone ever turned a weld on into a bolt on? Im really thinking about it so that latter no down the road i can put my stock one back on. I have this awesome idea goin my head to make some brackets to be able to bolt on the rear of my cut off frame so i can change back and forth if i want. Anyone ever think of that?

DJTricky
07-09-2009, 02:40 PM
well i went out and bought some steel brackets that i will weld to the roll pan. So i can bolt and un bolt hue pan. I will be working no it this weekend or next. So more info to come soon

AtomicHoe094
07-09-2009, 03:37 PM
vury nice.. im not to fond of it, but its your truck.. when you ever put an original bumper back on, it wont be as strong at the mounting points if you have brackets and such

DJTricky
07-09-2009, 04:24 PM
i know its not gonna be anywhere even close to as strong but i just thought that it might be a first. Im gonna start pulling my stocker off tomorrow. And mocking up the pan. Im also going to be painting my front lower vailance or the lower plastic thing gloss black. Im gonna sand and primer that tomorrow.

roadrageror
07-09-2009, 08:51 PM
man is there ever alot of crap onder there trucks to remove!! so im just bolting mine in..i see along the top of the rollpan is where the 6 screws would go,but im not sure how to fasten the lower part of each side of the pan to the rear fender.my girls truck has a fiberglass one and there is a little metal bracket..just wondering if i should get each side tack welded or what??(i have touch up paint) the pan is painted already..thanks

AtomicHoe094
07-09-2009, 08:56 PM
sometimes ppl let em kinda like dangle. but if yours doesnt dangle with the body persay. Yea id tack it or make a little bracket or something.. cut your frame yet??

roadrageror
07-09-2009, 09:02 PM
no i dont have all the stuff off yet! im 6'5 and about 230 and im trying to get all this stuff off in my drive way...i should have done it BEFORE i lowered it!! just about rubbing my rib cage on the tow package.lol. not quite as fun as i thought it would be..but soon!!!!! might have to go to my buddys garage and lift the rear up a lil bit...or diet.lol

DJTricky

AtomicHoe094

you might be able to use your stock one, im not sure how it sits tho when its all bolted.. you might need to look into this a little more :)

Ninety5PoloZ
07-12-2009, 11:27 PM
You will have to get a hidden hitch for a roll pan, ckresto used to have them for around $150 or so. You may be able to remount the stock reciever hitch, but it would hang below the pan and look like shit IMO

DJTricky
07-13-2009, 03:23 PM

I'd always wanted a roll pan and hidden hitch on my hoe, but the hitch is a no-go on a 2-door without replacing the gas tank with a small fuel cell (I've seen it done). I already have to re-fuel too often as it is--last thing I want is to double up on it. So I live with my bumper...

Although I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a decent looking tubular style hitch receiver like a Curt or Reese? Would be nice to tuck as much of the receiver up out of the way as possible, unlike the big square OEM receiver hanging under my bumper now.

07-14-2009, 04:04 PM

my rollpan is just a little too long how should i trim it down..like a 1/8 inch. everything else is ready to go..the pan is painted already also..

thats how mine was, they just want for you to work with something. yours is steel correct? i took a grinder, but i understand you really cant since yours is bolt on and you wont be welding the seems. hmmm. thats a hard one. maybe should of test fitted it before hand, but idk man..

roadrageror
07-14-2009, 04:54 PM
should have...well i used a grinder..left a little lip but it should work..have to go to work now so no pics til tomorrow but it should look alright.

roadrageror
07-15-2009, 03:03 AM
so this is it just sittin in place..not yet bolted. as you can see the side body kit doesnt match up exactly, there a little lower, but it is alot cleaner than the old bumper.might look a little better bolted in and later when i get the rig painted ill weld it on..ill have a finished pic in a little bit.(bit now i can see my exhaust pipe...) http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=105&pictureid=1417

roadrageror
07-15-2009, 01:44 PM
well that didnt go the way i had hoped.got the pan in but the bottom sticks out about 1/2 an inch i think the licence plate box is hitting somthing...i think i should have took it to a body shop..almost $300 for the pan with shipping..$150 for paint..thats 450..but i guess i have the satisfaction of a job i attempted anyway.well i guess i have some things to work on still.......

DJTricky
07-15-2009, 02:44 PM
you will have to cut out a section of your body. Here i have a pic of what i had to do. I had to cut about 1/2 inch in and almost an inch up. Then i just took a hammer to it.

roadrageror
07-15-2009, 03:16 PM
ya i kept cutting more and more off the frame thinking thats where it was hitting at first.i also thought about making a 1/2 inch wide x 2 inch long bracket for the bottom of the rollpan sides with a self tapping screw to suck it in and tie it to the side body panel.

AtomicHoe094
07-15-2009, 03:40 PM

http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=105&pictureid=1433 well here it is the " finished " product. the Denali body kit is about 2" lower than the rollpan.might have to find a piece of plastic or metal to make it flush..i like it better than the bumper but not quite as slick as i was hoping for..

i was thinking that the denali kit was going to do that, like i said in the previous thread. but its alrite. it looks good. willing to sacrifice the kit to make it look better or no??

This is a perfect time to say TEST FIT before you go out and get it painted and make all sorts of plans. if i would have test fit i would have known that the rollpan was just a bit too long and had to be ground off leaving exposed metal..i have touch up paint, and i also would have gotten a 2" strip welded to the bottom..and i would be happier with the outcome..instead of just so-so.but lesson learned.(don't be lazy)
