So... some of you may know, a lot of you may not.

I just found a home for a beautiful 2003 GMC Yukon Denali a little over a week ago and I'm loving it. the best news is, I kept my 1995 Tahoe so now I can REALLY do whatever I want to it; no holds barred.

The Denali is nice, it's powerful, it's smooth, and all that fun stuff.

So here is where the conundrum is... do I still build up my '95 as a drag truck, or do I turn it into a mud beast with tall tires and a lift and all that fun stuff? Right now it is completely off the road and unregistered so the possibilities are limitess. I'm just a little confused as to what I want to do.

On the one hand, now I have the oppurtunity to tear that truck apart and REALLY give it a lot of balls; street legal or not. If I wanted to really race it out, I could gut the whole drivetrain out, or even make it a track-only truck and tow it with the Yukon haha. On the other hand, the Denali is powerful and with a lot LESS money, I could make it really really quick at the track. I figure stock the Denali already has like 3 seconds on my Tahoe, and with a tune, exhaust, and a couple other bolt ons it would be even faster... then if I really wanted to get fancy I could invest in better heads/cam or a s/c. It woudl probably cost less to get the Denali to run 13-12 than the Hoe. In that event, I could just build up the Hoe into a proud truck that rides high with a big block in it or something and a grille guard with a winch and whatever else.

What do you guys think? I'm not sure how much I want to modify the Denali, at least not this early in the game. It's still so new, fresh, and exciting to me I really don't want to do much to it atm but get some exhaust haha.

I would leave the Yukon, bone stock and do a drag truck with the 95. I have a similar situation. I have a bone stock 01 Tahoe, with 29,000 miles on it. I use that for traveling when I want to be able to hear the radio and have a smooth ride.

I use my 95 for those all the other days when I have the “rebel without a cause” attitude.

It is great to be able to take your time on the mod’s without having a deadline to be back on the road.

As far as off road getting into the Mud, I got that out of my system when I drove Tanks in the Army. That was the ultimate Mud experience.

I find there are a lot of times I have to park in public parking, downtown, where I just don’t feel secure leaving the 95 with all the tempting parts to steal in a public parking facility for a day. Stock trucks are very seldom bothered in those situations.

Just my humble opinion………. Good luck in whatever you end up doing. You have always done impressive work on your 95….. :)

Wow... talk about a mixed bag Haha. TwinTT thank your for the compliment :), and you do pose a very valide point. I think the drag truck idea may still be the route to go, plus it's a lot less common to see a raced out SUV. Everyone jacks 'em up and puts a brush guard on them and all that... besides I love the track. Maybe I'll save the offroad dream for when I get that old pick-up I've been talking about. Maybe down the road I will get a late 70's 3/4-ton or 1-ton Chevy truck and I will build that up with a big motor and even bigger tires :P
