Hello,
I'm currently 19 years old and a proud new owner of a '04 Tahoe LT. I have been saving for 2 years to make a down payment high enough to lower the bill to a range I can easily afford. I just wanted to say Hi to all of you and show some pics of my Hoe. So far I have added a new Billet Grill, Handel and gas cap. As soon as my fiances allow me, I'm going to add my (2) Alpine Type-R 12s.

Also, I am running an 9500i Escort Radar Detector and was wondering if anyone on here has "hard Wired" it into their Tahoe and has pics? I'm Interested in doing that.
Also, The Garmin nuvi fits perfectly in the Cubby hole!

Any comments or info I should know about my Hoe? :hands:
PS: This is the system I'm Going to add to her:

Looks good, I'd say smoke the light and windows and get a set of HIDs!

Congrats on the purchase. Kudos for building up a good down payment. A suggested mod - you can power your radar detector off of the wiring harness that is inside of the rear view mirror, I have seen the mod done before and it looks slick as all get out.
Nice ride. Welcome to the party.

Hi Guys
Glad to help much as I can....but all the info is coming off another forum so please forgive me. It is the first forum I ever joined and the one I know the best.
Here goes:
The main product that is referred to is called Invisicord. Cllick me for INVISICORD (http://www.invisicord.com/index.html)
Here is an install using an invisicord type of wiring job
(http://z71tahoe-suburban.com/iboard/index.php?showtopic=17449&st=0&p=218316&#entry218316)
And a discussion on the wiring and how to find the proper feed (http://z71tahoe-suburban.com/iboard/index.php?showtopic=20515&st=0&p=264047&#entry264047)
This thread involves the complete disassembly of a radar detector and the mounting of it directly to the rear view mirror (http://z71tahoe-suburban.com/iboard/index.php?showtopic=19784&hl=radar+detector) Perhaps a bit more challenging than a typical install but looks neat when done.
Taking down the center console to find a hot lead is fairly easy if you want to tap into there. Just undo the screw in the back and pull gently down on the console until it unclips, thus exposing the wiring harness.
You could also splice into your current wiring harness, splcing into it with zip wire, and the route the wire up the plastic clip assembly that runs from the rear view mirror to the headliner. Then stuff the wire up into the headliner, following the windshield to the A pillar, hide the wire down behind the A pillar plastic trim, and then route the wire up under the dash and over to the cig lighter outlets. Just an idea. Any other questions happy to try and help much as I can.

Recommend any certain sites to get the best ones? I heard a lot of problems with the LED ones with people losing control of cruise control, so I think I'll stay away from those.
Also, Does anyone recommend a site for upgrading my headlights to HIDs? Im very interested in doing this and would like to know the best site and/or ebay seller that others have gotten from and recommended.
Lastly, haha Same question as above but Cold Air Intake.
Thanks for everyone's input so far!

hey, that Garmin Nuvi actually fits perfectly IN that hole as well... you can just pop off the dash trim by hand, no tools needed, pull out the plastic cubby trey, put the garmin in there and replace the dash trim, and you have a genuine poor mans in dash Navi... it actually looks pretty nice done like that... i would have already done that mod if i thoguht i would ever use it, i have nav on my phone and i never use it even then, just dont get lost ever.

I bought these lights from this seller off eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320012389794&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT
And plugged these HID's in:
http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=product&id=102&parent=85
No complaints whatsoever, except I might add a harness soon, as the Raptors seem to take a minute to reach full intensity. I'm not 100% sure a harness will alleviate that, but it's a cheap investment anyway.

Aint dat da troof.
Looks nice.
Paint the bow tie (from the back), 'Vette servo (real cheap mod, big bang for the buck) AEM Brute Force or one of these guys can show you where to find a real affordable knock off, but still get the actual AEM filter element.
Welcome aboard.

looks good, yea cheap and easy mod, paint your emblems. No problems with the LEDs here. Once you get em in your good. If you hook them up the wrong way you blow fuses. The ones I have have resistors etc so there no problems, some don't have resistors and what not so you have to add them in order for stuff to work correctly. I think that what we've found out so far.

Welcome bro and nice truck. I am impress by your decision to save and buy your own truck. And at 19, man think of how many females you can fit in there :signs8: Oh yeah, I think you should leave off the chrome backing on the handles and just leave the handles chrome.

I hardwired my radar detector using a universal hard wire kit from Best Buy. I ran the cord up the headliner and down the A-pillar right to the fuse box. I tapped a fuse that only powers up when the key is on. So basically, the radar detector will turn on and off with the key. I also have mine mounted up higher on the windshield.... I think it does a much better job picking up radar mounted higher.

Could you happen to check what fuse that was please? That's exactly what I want to do, Thanks

I used the 10 amp ignition fuse. If you are looking at the fuse block directly, it is in the upper left corner and the diagram says ignition. This fuse is only hot when the key is on. So if you run the radar cable to it, the radar detector will turn on when the key is turned on, and turn off when you turn your key off..... never have to turn it on or off.
