View Full Version : Anyone else with loose window sill trim plastic?

Hey all,
When you close the back doors on my '09 Tahoe, especially when those windows are down, it sounds as though you're slamming the door closed violently. I finally investigated the situation, and as it turns out, the window sill trim pieces on both back doors are loose. (On top of that, I think that the windows are just a hair "loose" in the mechanism, too.) They don't appear to be in danger of coming off the truck or anything -- they just feel as though they're missing a backing or something (when you tap them, there's play behind them, and they rattle against the door).
Anyone else experience this... and then get it fixed? It's clearly a warrantee item (to me), so I'll be taking it in soon. Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue.
Thanks,

I have the same problem with my front drivers door when the window is down. Sounds almost like the window is rattleing.

If you are talking about the belt molding, the black strip with curve up, I have replaced them twice. Very fragile. I also have noticed a rattling with the window down while driving. Waiting to hear what your dealer does.

Well, the dealer did nothing. Said they're just attached at the top point, and there's nothing to do for them. Also said that the windows are within tolerance, too. So, there was absolutely nothing done by the dealer.
From the inside of the truck (or, with the door open), it appears as though I might be able to wedge a piece of something at the base of where the molding curves. It just needs something behind it so that it doesn't rattle against the door...

That's just it -- they said that they checked some other Tahoes in there, and they were all the exact same way.
It's kind of annoying that dealers tend to associate "common" with "fine." Just because they're ALL loose and make a terrible noise when you close the door doesn't make it right! LOL Oh well.
