View Full Version : Dual Steering Stabilizer

I take pride in my ability to surf the internet. I take pride in my ability to find the unfindable. Right now I am swallowing that pride and admitting defeat!

I can't seem to find a "dual" steering stabilizer for this tahoe...anybody have a link to one? I have the KYB single stabilizer right now but want to kick the stability up a notch.

Gracias

No reason for a dual, but come to colorado and I'll build you one.

How does the single stabilizer handle thus far? Is it a real improvement because my steering wheel doesn't vibrate at all but a little play from side to side.

Why would you need dual? Unless you have some serious bumpsteer and even so, the stabilizers will not fix this..

I guess I'm an optimistic perfectionist? The driveability with a single stabilizer increased dramatically, but with these heavy ass 24s, almost every little bump causes an exponential amount of reaction in the steering. I would say it's almost perfect, I still get a little shaking from minor imperfections in the road that is strictly from the front end..it's not something the average person would probably pick up but me being the way I am, well....its obvious I guess?

I will say this, the BIG bumps I don't hardly feel at all as compared to before the single.

So, are there no duals out there for these hoes???

So let me get this straight. The truck didn't come with a stabilizer and you added one and the difference is noticeable?

absolutely....very noticeable man! I got a KYB and it really lessened the amount of vibration and kicks coming from the front end on big bumps. I just thought I'd kick it up another notch :D

One more thing. Is this bolt on or does there need to be modification done?

Do you recommend it?

It's basically a bolt on but you gotta drill a simple hole for the mounting bracket on driverside frame rail. If I can do it, I know your ass can....!

I can send you a pic ....when I get her back from the tranny shop

Still sketchy as to when. Late July/early Aug is what I'm being told and it's a 60% chance as of today that I get to take my truck. I'd have to buy out a week vacation to make it happen which doesn't bother me, I have 5 weeks left to use this year.. I'll definitely post up a week or two before I jet or as soon as it's set in stone..

Please do post picsof the stabilizer when you get a chance. I'm really curious to get this.

Will do, the pictured stabilizer there isn't the actual one...it's a little confusing because I think its sold/ableled as a rough country when in fact KYB makes it

It made a huge difference on mine. I added one about 3 months ago and the steering feels more controllable and firm, not as sloppy. Boss was telling me about some problems he was having so I recommended this to him and it seems like it took care of a lot the problems he was experiencing.

Man, I hope you get to make it out this way. I'm anxious to see the how your Whipple and my Radix do against each other. And I'll bring my HD camcorder so Boss can record and show everyone in hi-def the ass whooping my Radix is gonna do:) j/k Really though, it's gonna be a blast win or lose. Maybe Boss will have his s/c by then too.

Me too. It's all in the hands of my mgr. I'll have you know I lit up a Ford Lightning with a Magna but it doesn't really count because well, it's a FURD and I was rolling 18" wheels. Still I had him by 2 lenghts.

Now I feel much better that both you and BOSS are using this stabilizer with positive results. My issue is not big but if it'l make it go away I'll be extremely happy..

Thanks for posting up fellas..

Holy shit Batman!! I got the stabilizer last night and installed it first thing this morning. All I have to say it's like nite and day. It feels so much smoother and the vibration from the suspension up to the steering wheel is gone!!! I'm loving this. Still feel the road but that is to be from 24's and it being lowered but damn, it feels really tight and firm..

BOSS, you are now officially "The steering stabilizer guru" Thanks man!!

My truck is a 2WD, the stabilizer works great with it, had to drill a single hold in the subframe :hands:

Like BOSS man said, it took me no more than 1/2 hr to install and 1 small hole to drill, everything elase is bolt on, very basic and a really good mod for lowered and big wheels. I'm definitely glad I did this.. Still get the feel of cracks and shit on the road but the steering vibration is gone..

That part can only be used if you have the Skyjacker lift because it mounts to the brackets that come with the lift if I'm not mistaken.

Indeed I have. I used to tell people if it's on the web, I can find it. Found a complete page dedicated to the Import Laws of Turkey once for a friend's economics report.

Truth is I searched Google for it and it was buried in page 3 of the Goggle shopping results.

If that does work, take a pic of the install for me and we'll call it even. I'm interested in adding a single unit, but would like to see how you guys attached.

Very noticeable difference in stability and less woble...going to change mine for a dual if I can ever find it again though. Seems a liiitle bit softer since I installed mine. Install is a piece of cake, drill a couple holes per the instructions in the frame, install bracket etc and you're good.

I have an OBS 2wd Tahoe and I had made posts on fullsizechevy about a stabilizer to my truck and everyone acted like I was retarded. I think I am going to be selling this truck soon but it is good to know that if I keep the truck it may be a good mod to do to help tighten up the steering some.
