So I just lowered my 03 Tahoe with DJMs 3/5 control arm kit. For some reason I didn't get the drop that was suppose to be. It only dropped 4" in the rear and 1.5" in the front. I haven't gotten it aligned yet so I don't know if that would make much difference or not. Does anybody have any experience with this kit and could lead me in the right direction if maybe I did something wrong.

That sounds like a signifant drop in the rear, is it level....or mostly level? The alignment won't do anything for the drop but you definitely need it.

Post some pics?

I don't have any pictures of it yet but I'll try to get some on here later today. It looks like its sits a little higher in the front. I don't want to get it aligned with the way it sits now b/c I want to get it more level and as low as the drop is suppose to make it. The front alignment is absolutely horrible right now (very bad + camber). It sits on the outer edge of the tires. I can actually see space underneath the inner edges of the front tires. Maybe I tightened the torsion keys more than what they were so it sits higher? I havent driven it yet either so maybe it will settle some...but atleast a full inch??

Could be the keys, jack the front up and unscrew them most of the way out. Then drop it down and see where it sits. At least that is fairly easy.

Ok so I just took it for a little drive... low (no pun intended) and behold it "settled" and the front mysteriously dropped but the back didn't lower any more..... For some reason the right side sits a little higher than the left. Please excuse the stock wheels. I have some 24s sitting here in my house waiting to be put on after the alignment. What I like about this kit is that I can put on the stock wheels for long drives unlike the other kits that use drop spindles where they require atleast 17" rims. The front rides fine but the back is rough on bumps. Here are the pics after my drive.

I orderd a HID kit and front lights... I'm going to do a retrofit with some projectors that are intended for HID.

Cool! Looks really strange with the stock wheels, but good. Looks like it sits pretty level, can't wait to see it with the 24's!!!! Hurry up!!

Honestly it looks like a 3/5 drop all the way, if you haven't drive it you need to. Turn your front steering wheel back and forth driving down the block like a race car driver does on yellow flag, should level out the front suspension. You should see a slight drop in the front once you park again because of the leveling after driving. The coils in the rear will also settle after a few weeks or couple months, so expect the rear to drop a hair also. Search on the free travel mod....

Yeah I came and joined over here also. Thanks for the compliment! It rides fine unless I hit a pretty good bump. That could be due to limited axle travel though. I need to see how much travel I actually have.

May want to try changing shocks to shorter drop shocks considering how low you are sitting! That will smooth up the ride along with the DJM free travel.

Free travel mod requires a plasma cutter or maybe you could use a cutting wheel to cut off the bumpstop brackets.

I do have drop shocks.... I checked the rearend and there is only maybe 2" until it hits the bumpstops so that is more or likely the reason for the rough riding in the rear. I'm going to cut the old bumpstops out and put in some shorter ones.

I just did this last weekend and man what a difference, I wish I had bucked up and done it six months ago. You don't "need" a plasma cutter but it would be easy if you had one. I used a 5'' cutting wheel on the front of the brackets and a sawzall on the inside of the brackets. The driver's side get's a smidge sketchy due to the proximity of the gas tank but nothing taking your time can't overcome. It's a 30-60min job. I cut the front of the brackets with the cutting wheel then bent the bracket down with a pry bar and got the back side with the sawzall. I suggest you take your rear coils out so you don't have to worry about hacking them. If you do have a plasma cutter handy or access to one it will take longer to get the wheels off then it will to cut the brackets. No one around me had one and the one guy that did wanted $65 to do a 15min job....******.

Thanks for the link. I do have a question for you. Do you (or anybody else) have any pictures of the rear sway bar end link setup. For some reason the end link on the passsenger side doesn't bend out far enough so I can't bolt it up. I've been in the process of emailing DJM and it seems as if I'm getting a run around!

I have the DJM 3/5 kit on my yukon. After a while the suspension settled and i have about a 4.75" drop out back and 2.75 up front. As far as the links go, I still have mine sitting in my tool cart at work. I'm running the stock links on mine. I also waited on the free travel mod and regret it.
