What? Tire "fell off"?
Did the wheel come off the car? Tire come off the rim? Huh?

The whole wheel came off.
I will be talking to them more tomorrow. They are paying for all the damages.
I was lucky, it started shaking on the Freeway. Got off the next exit and it came off at 35 mph.
Scraped the Front Skirt. Rotor damaged and it also damaged the inside of the wheel.. Fender now pushes into the door.
Wheel went down the other side of the road and didn't hit any cars. Hit the signal light pole and stopped.

Don't get me started on the *@$%^ at DT. They trashed one of the wheels on my Trailblazer SS and then slapped white grease all over it to hide it. Once I got home and cleaned it off I went right back and told the manager they had to buy me a new rim. They tried to tell me it did not look to bad and I went off. I ended up with a new rim and I will never go back to them again.....
They also messed up a wheel on my Jeep when the goof ball drug the impact around the rim as he zipped the lugs off. Made a nice circle mark that connects the lug nuts.

Whenevey I get wheel I will tell them to torque them manually, safe way to do it instead of screwing up everything.
Nice wheels by the way, how did it affect your MPG?

I just got them installed. So I don't know yet.
As for checking them, I should have. But didn't think about it at the time.

My parents were also in the car. It could have been worse, I could have wreaked on the freeway. The tire could have hit someone.
They will have to do more than just repair the damages.

That's a damn good price. Even better if the shop learned to tighten lug nuts:boxed:

Hey ED I think you should lower it, nobody has lowered a Hybrid yet so get the Pedders kit and join us!

It may even be better, Manager is working getting me a discount. But free tires and wheels would be nice. :)

I have been thinking about a rear leveling kit. I am not too fond of the lowered look.

So far repairs are:
$1700 Suspension Work
$1700 Body Work
$500 Car Rental
New Tire and Wheel

I'd bring up the possibility that this will get reported to CarFax. $1700 in body work might raise an eye. If it does, it will result in a loss of value on the vehicle beyond the repairs. You might ask how they will handle that loss.

Never thought about that.
I'll ask the dealer and see if they are reporting it.

Claims Dept just called. Told me there would be no compensation above the repairs and rental.
Told them I guess I need to contact a lawyer. Also talked to the Manager of the store. He contacted Corporate and now they are entertaining a number.
But what is fair? I agree that they should pay something for my time and endangering my life and the lives of my family. But what?
I am not out to gouge anyone, just something fair.

I would ask for a full refund back on the rims.

06-11-2009, 11:05 PM
I am actually thinking on asking them refund to me both the tires and the wheels.

06-12-2009, 06:17 PM
that sound fair to me actuallu full refund for the tires and rims cant go wrong free repairs rims n tires when u think bout it only thing if it goes on carfax your resell value. if anything if the resale value does go down by a good bit have the difference in the resale added in to the compensation. to me is still to fair even for them with the lack of product knowledge, service, experience and danger lvl they could have inflicted on you and famliy

06-12-2009, 06:23 PM
He didn't like the idea of a full refund.
But mentioned he could give me $500.
Ed Blown Vert
06-13-2009, 01:26 PM
$500 is the best they will do.
jmildoc
06-13-2009, 02:06 PM
settle for the $500 and I would also ask for a protection plan for like the life of the wheels and the tires too if you didnt get it already...
if you did purchase a protection plan i would ask to have it for free... they can afford it you know they can...

WWWTTTTFFFF!?!?!? Do not settle for $500 bucks. Get your truck fixed 100% and compensated for your time and hassle. That's it period. Have you lawyer ready on the phone to talk to the manager. NO BS !! Tell'em we mean business at the law offices of smith and hassler.
PS, just kidding about the "Tell'em.....hassler"

Think about dropping the "scared the pants off me" fee and stay with the real damages.
The tire shop has insurance. Tell them to use it and fix the truck. Nothing less. If the Tire/wheel were damaged even slightly, that should be replaced.
Advise them that you really only wnat what is right but if you have to get a lawyer to get it, you'll allow him/her to ask for whatever thay can get.
Tell them to remember the terms "Gross Negligence" and "6 O'clock News".

Was able to drive it this weekend. Got a shake at freeway speeds. And it doesn't track as well. The Yukon will follow the ruts.
So is this a tire brand issue? Or by going to a larger wheel/tire combo?
Tires are Falken Ziex S/TZ-04. Discount is going to try the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza
Ed Blown Vert

The Falkens tracked like shit. Every rut in the road would throw me into the next lane.
Got them to install Bridgestone's. So far so good.
It was an $100 upgrade which Discount didn't charge me. :)
