I thought our trucks couldn't swap out for the nnbs escalade ones? I was messing around youtube and came across this video of a guy who did it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Y3NHqIlBfo I really wanna do this now

Anything is possible with the time and money. That probably took a lot of it. It's already been tried, it does not plug-and-play; you will need to probably do a LOT of wiring.
But, if you get it to work, let us be the first to know! :D

Then I'd love to see someone post a detailed install thread to show just how "easy" it is. Excon I welcome your idea, you should go for it. :)

BTW does anyone know the proper part # for the escalade cluster. There are three listed online.

According to the Youtube poster.... it was extremely difficult to get it working. I'm going to drop them a call and discuss the details.

I'm sure it is a very difficult process...that's what sucks about it, but the end result is really cool. But you know, after being in my mom's Escalades I don't even notice the sweeping motion they do, so it will grow old.
What I'm wondering is how it will work with a 4-speed when it is made to control a 6-speed? It will have the "M" instead of the "3 2 1" after the other gears.

Its really not the sweeping I like its the overall look of it. I like the way its set up way more than our stock systems now. I was gonna get the RBP gauge face but might try this.

I would rock them, would not be willing to spend much though!

They would look nice in a Tahoe. :)
If you can get it to work, please post a write up!!

Nice!! I'll be subscribing to this thread or wherever you post your progress. Did you ask the guy who made that YouTube video how he got it to work??

i think the screen part would be the hardest part, that has more info on the slade doesn't it? but i love the blueish guages. the swipe motion is just programming, it would litterally take 5 min to reprogram that if someone gave me the source. heck, I could make them dance at start up... like bounce back + forth, then return to normal... give 'em a little beat... they are all electronic, just plug it in!

That would be cool if someone could figure out how to make the Tahoe/Yukon gauges do the sweep. What do you mean by the source? Surely someone could hack the cluster and get some sort of file off it that tells it to sweep.

exactly, I'd love the source code to the ECM, BCM, and the sat nav. then I'd show you how they are supposed to work!
Like Auto UP on the power windows. or, when the sunroof is closing, and you remove the key, it doesn't open back up for some reason...
or way more options for lighting, inside and out.
so many things you can do, but if they made it open source, it would be a support nightmare... since it's not like there is a spinning cable running the speedo or tach, it's all software and a computer that tell it to do the sweep... it's just for show...

The reason they don't open or close when you pull the key is because those motors have a large power draw

Ohh, I think we are talking about 2 diff features.
My Tahoe: When you push the auto close on the sun roof (engine running)... ok, WHILE the sunroof is in motion (and your in park) pull the key out.
it will reverse direction, to full open.
You can then push the button (Again) to close. This is just stupid... somewhere it's getting a signal mixed up.
what your talking about however, should also work. I should be able to put any window up/down without the key in the ignition. If I have access to the inside of the vehicle, what would it hurt to be able do that?
Large Draw?! c'mon. I could put all 5 windows open/close 50 times before the battery took a hit. I'd get bored before the battery gave out.
I can use the power lift gate, which uses 10x more power than a window with the key or without it being in the ignition. or the head lights even! you can't tell me windows draw more power than head lights...
the sunroof issue is a design or programming flaw. not being able to move the windows without a key in the ignition is just lame.
However most modern cars let you move the windows until a door is opened after the key is pulled.
Stupidly, the radio stays on, but you lose the windows if your passenger gets out. How stupid! If i have radio, why lose the windows just because someone got out the back?! (Radio stays on until driver exits, or approx 12 min)
but that's another thread...

The liftgate doesn't necessarily use more power... it may but there is a theory behind my logic.
The motors in the windows are the only thing holding the windows in their position, there is no latch. If someone could get a grip on the window (like with one of those giant suction cups for replacing windows and windshields), they won't be able to pull it down.
The liftgate however, is able to move rather easily because the latch is mechanical/electronic. The gas pistons make the force needed to open the liftgate much less. If you ask me, opening the liftgate by hand is easier than closing it.
The actual low beams in the headlights don't turn on until you take it out of Park... at least for me. Just my DRL's are on.
My sunroof stops the second I pull my key out, along with the windows.

My sunroof continues to close all the way when I pull my key out. There have been many times when I hit the auto-close button after I park in my driveway and then I pull the key out to exit the vehicle and it's never stopped nor reversed itself.
