That sucks.
I was just telling Boss the other day about a wheel coming off one day on one of my cars. I was stopped at a red light, hit the gas when it turned green, and a few feet later, the ass end of the car dropped. Then this wheel goes rolling by and I thought, "Damn, that looks a lot like one of my wheels."
I get out to take a look and find that the lugs sheared right off.

all companies have their issues, but i have two friends with super duties (one f-250 and one f-350) and both of them have replaced trannies, my friend with the f-350 is now on his 4th tranny!! FOURTH!!! just dont like what they have going on, i know GM has their problems, but god damn...
I know another dude who has a lifted 3500 GMC, thing is butter... its jest personal preferance, but i like the g-macs over the super duties

Id say our trannys are much more known for failures than F-250/F-350. Especially when you consider how much more power/ and how much more towing those trucks do than our 1/2 ton trucks.

well, i will say i have not done much research, like i previously said... i speaking anecdotally here, just wont ever find myself buying ford over gm based on the close encounters i have had with both. you might be right but can sway my opinion.

I don't care for Ford, but I'd trust their AOD trans over GM's 700R4/4L60.

I like ford quality better than GM. Especally 06 and back. Their interiors blow GM away. Also their quality is just as good if not better than toyota or honda according to both ford commercials and consumer reports.

If the allison was in our tahoe. This would be a valid arguement. But to be the devils advocate here. Fords standard tranny is a lot more durable than our standard tranny (4l60E) But our vortec is a better suv motor. So its really a toss. I have had engines blow with ford, and trannys blow with chevy, and everything blow with dodge.

yea definitely chevy quality is alot better than ford, tahoes do have a little bit of tranny problems but that is one of very few problems, i know alot of people with fords and the vehicles are just junk, ive even worked on them alot and again all i can say when im working on them is just a bunch of junk

well if gm dealers were not dicks that charged over msrp and actually had the vehicles and didnt BS their customers, then maybe I would have gotten a camaro. I wanna know why the camaro has 425 hp yet its only .1 faster from 0-60 than a mustang with 315 hp. :

0-60 .1 slower.... and 1/4mile .7 slower Mustang 3550lb VS Camaro 3900lb... so yeah it's going to take alot more to move the camaro off the line....but there goes the time after it does get going...mustang can't hang even with 350 lb of weight difference to it's advantage. Anyone who drag races KNOWs how much 350lb can do with times. Bet it wont be .1 of a second from 5-60.
Dang i didn't know mustang v6's had 315hp, more then camaro's v6's 305 wow impressive. Wait....that is a V6 hp rating for the mustang right? :893MrT-thumb:

no the v-6 on the mustang is 210. but a preformance car never has a v-6 lol. and IMO the camaro should not even have a v-6 option. But I cant wait to see the numbers on a mustang with the coyote engine that has 400 hp. Bringing back the 5.0 baby. . Also my mustang wont be staying stock for long. Ford has so much more preformance options that gm its not even funny. I can get a super charger and still maintain full warranty.

Personally I have a love/hate relationship with ford, dodge, and gm as well. I hate ford gas burners and I hate the newer diesel engines. I trust the 7.3L diesel (no longer made as of 2003 I think; can't remember) but not the 6.0L, 6.4L, and the new one for next year which is the... aw hell I think it's a 6.7L (may like it later but want to see how it performs first) I also don't know how good this new 4.4L diesel is going to be that ford is putting in their f-150s next year. I trust a cummins (dodge; which is funny because I believe the cummins is actually made by ford). I do not like the d-max however. I have heard too many horror stories from buddies about the d-max. I believe chevy signed a deal with caterpillar for their regular pickup trucks but I'm not sure. If they did, when they come out with the caterpillar engine in a pickup, I believe I will like them alot and begin to trust Chevy diesels again. I do not like chevy trannies other than alison and I do not trust dodge trannies. Ford has a good tranny but shitty gas burners other than the old in-line 6 from the late 80s/early 90s and the 351. Chevy has good gas burners but shitty trannies (well, not shitty but as mentioned previously, not the best). Dodge has decent gas burners and shitty trannies. If I could make me a truck. I'd have an F-250 with a caterpillar (which they've made) and alison trans... and my hoe of course.
Edit: Before someone bashes this, it is my opinion. I am purely going on experiences of my buddies/relatives/myself.

My dad has had good luck with older Ford Diesels, Mainly the 7.3 Powerstroke, Great motor. We have had good luck with The Older 5.7 from chevy, and the newer 5.3 from chevy.
Have had nothing but problems with anything from Dodge, Actually had an intrepid that the radiator pretty much fell off on the highway.
Great luck with Fords Transmissions, Especially in our 7.3
Decent luck with Chevys Trannys, dads last 2003 tahoe had serious tranny issues before we sold it.
And Dodge trannys, Ugh...

I wasn't sure if cummins was still its own company or not as I thought I had read something about ford and cummins (I could be wrong and I coulda been drunk idk lol). Like I said my opinion via experience and experiences of my buddy's and family is that d-max are turds. The 5 that have been owned by my family and friends could have all been lemons or they could have wheeled them / worked them too hard.

The LB7 Duramax(First year) Had injector issues, but the ones since are good trucks. The LLY Duramax 04.5-05 Had overheating issues, but they are easily fixed with what is called an LBZ Mouthpiece or a Killer Bee intake. My dad had an 06 LBZ and currently drives an 08 LMM without any issues.

I see. Well, I'm glad he has had good luck with them. We gave up on duramax because like I said, we had no luck with them, but if your dad does, more power to him and his trucks. I just read a few minutes ago (don't know how reliable the source is) that cummins has a new agreement with ford to manufacture diesels in many of the F-Series trucks. Any idea if this is legit? I know Ford will be offering diesels in the new F-150s but don't know if they will be cummins or powerstroke. I want to say it's going to be a 4.4L.

I think the 4.4L will be produced by Ford along with the 6.7L Scorpion diesel that will go in the 2010 SD. Cummins engines are and have been avalible in the F-6 & 750 trucks for a while.

I have my issues with all of them. But I will say as of late that we have gone thru 2 BUick Enclaves (2008 and 2009) that were lemon law pieces of shit. And now this Denali is having some gremlins (driver information center going nuts and saying service stabilitrac, serivice traction control etc) And the 7 year old mustang that sits in the garage and gets the snot beat out of it on the weekends never breaks.
How many recalls has there been on the 2010 Camaro already??? I know of at least one that caused them to spontaneously combust!!
Ford will catch up on the pony car war next year, they were just enjoying saving money til GM and Chrysler got their heads out of their asses, it's on like donkey kong now.

FORD-Fixed Or Repaired Daily...... Something my dad use to tell me.
Looks like another unit bearing failure, I fix those things all the time at work. 7.3 is a solid puller but the ford interiors suck ass. Only truck I'd take from ford is a newer harley f-250 black on black with the black headliner...take that pile of international shat that is the 6.0 and replace it with a dmax or 24v cummins once the injectors/egr/trans/turbo failed. Honestly I'd take a 4L60 over an E40D/5R100 any day of the week, still don't know what the fuck ford was thinking when they took a bronco trans and stuck it behind a diesel 3/4 ton truck. Quality is job #1.

Failed On Race Day!!!!!
At least Ford had a car that made it to every race day since the muscle car era started. :)
Car and driver still rated mustang the number one modern muscle car even though it got beat in the quarter. Both the other "contenders" were bloated flagships that were being sold for one and a half times their sticker. For the price you could buy a new Camaro or Challenger when they came out you could have bought a Shelby that would challenge the Corvette or if you were so inclined, go out and buy a Corvette. I have a buddy who bought two Camaros when they first came out, paid the premium, and is sorry he did it because now all he has is a used Camaro worth the same as all the rest.

When you pay for a table at a club.. you get in quicker.. get some special treatment.. but at the end of the night your just as drunk and walking out the same door at the same time as everyone else...
does it mean you regret getting vip? No.. and you shoulda never bought it if you were gonna..

True enough, myself i would never pay extra for a car that's going to be a dime a dozen six months down the road. I would however pay above sticker for something unique or rare so that you are the only one with it for a long time.

I had a bad experience with Ford early on. All through High School all the Ford's my buddies owned were always breaking down. But the mother of all deterrents occurred when my dad purchased a new 1989 Ford F-250 Diesel to pull a 5th wheel from California to Michigan.
5 miles from our home town the transmission went out.
Got as far as Salt Lake City when the it began to over heat. (Thermostat went out to the best of my memory)
Pulled into Chicago and needed two new brake rotors.
Got to Michigan and it was still over heating.
On the way home, got as far as Cheyenne Wyoming before the head gasket blew. Truck had somewhere around 7,000 miles on it by the time my dad blew his gasket and gave it back to the Ford Dealership.
I love Mike Rowe, but he promotes a product with more issues than TIME magazine.

Our company has a fleet of about 60-70 Ford service trucks (F-450 - F-550) and a couple of years back we had major issues with studs breaking and losing wheels. Ford ended up having a recall on them i believe but not before we wrecked a bunch of trucks. Being Heavy Duty Mechanic service trucks they had a tendency to overload them but still very scary.
