Hey Ya'll how's it goin?
I was shopping around for the Orion amps to power my subs (decided to stay at 2-10's since they so powerful and if not satisfied get a 3rd later). But I could only find one orion amp within my price range but it was used. I decided to look else where for my power needs and stumbled across these Hifonics amps one was 3,200 watt max 1,600 RMS @ 1 ohm for $200. now this is from sonixelectronics, and even though i got my subs I price their orion amps and they are the same but they are on a crazy long back order and my install in due in a couple weeks when I send my trucc n everything out. Now has anyone here used these amps and how was the experience???

If they're as good as that then I would say get them, I'm thinking about fabbing up a sealed box for an 8" sub and putting it in the center console area!

I'd stay away from the newer stuff. HiFonics sold out several years ago and are very inferior to when they were built in USA by ZED Audio. That is when they were the shit.. Orion is the same, sold the name but the quiality sucks. If you can get some of the old school equipment that would be the way to go.. I used to have a gen4 Zeus back in the 80's and powered my entire system with it and was very powerful and crisp. Regret the day I got rid of it..
I'm running the same amps for the last 13 years built by Rockford Fosgate and they sound and put out like the day I first bought them. Old School is the way to go. Bulletproof..

I agree. The older Hifonics and Orion was actually worth a damn. The new stuff just doesn't seem nearly as good since they've been bought out.
DEI bought Orion a few yrs ago.

I always heard they were junk but I have never had any experience with them. I really like US AMPS they are made in the USA their power rating is true and not inflated and the sound excellent.

I wish I still dealt with US Amps. They had some really good amps back in the days. I haven't sold or installed any for a few years since I moved back to Tx. They were huge in Florida when I was installing out there (not surprising, being as they are manufactured in Gainesville, Fl.)
Anyway, back to the OP...$200 for that Hifonics isn't a bad price. The power rating might be inflated, but even if you get half that and it plays @ 1 ohm, the price still isn't too bad.

and i thought about JL but if you look on YOUTUBE/ you'll see they did a test of all the major subs compared to the Orion HCCA (mind you they are 12's) it was JL,Orion,Rockford and sum1 else and Orion lasted longer on peak wattage... but bac to the thread title any thoughts on finding the thrwo bac amps for purchase?

i currently have a 2008 model Hifonics Brutus 2000 watt running 1ohm to my 2 kicker 15 l7s. it pounds the hell out of em. the power rating is not inflated one bit. this is the first hifonics amp ive ever ran, and i was just like you before i bought it, had my doubts. only thing now is i wish i woulda gotten the 4000 watt lol its not loud to me anymore. theyre strong as hell, id recommend one no doubt.

i have a BOSS 3600 mono amp powering my two MA audio HK15
I'm running 2- 10w7's and 2 component sets off of my Hifonics amps without issue. I had the same problems here as many of you have experienced, everyone has name changed, merged, or been taken over and the quality control or sheer attention to a reliable product has diminished. Hands down back in my install days things were very different.
All that said, I have had this system up and running for 2 years now and have yet to be failed by the amps. I've run them pretty hard and have no complaints considering pricing and lack of options if you don't want to spend an arm and a leg.

i hate the cheap zeus and brutus amps. Complete junk!
If you wanted to go hifonics, go with the xxv line. I had a colossus and wasn't a bad amp. Imo go old school hifonics or look at something else

i hav the brutus 1600watta amp pushing my 2-10's and it was knoccn when i first got it now it does not seem like enuff my guy that does my audio suggested a oxygen audio 3500watt amp for me to run my subs becuase if i doubled up i will not have enuff room in the trunk for the amps now that i have my kinetic batt, back the any insight on this brand of shoul i stay with the hifonics. my subs are rated at 1500rms each.
if that helps me personally i like the hifonics but if i upgrade the hifonics the oxygen audio amp is the same price for more watts.

get hifonics over Oxygen.
go with the hifonics over oxygen audio any day.........i personally dont like oxygen audio.......its a brand that a lot of these bx audio shops push so they can turn a profit...... besides dont believe the numbers on the amp pay attention to the rms ......that is your real power............

Hifonics amps are good for the money. Cheap and they put out rated power. They lack a little on the sound quality end but for the most part, they are a good buy. I have installed a few and owned the BXI 2610D. My buddy has used the BXI 1210D for the better part of 2 years on two 10" DC Level 3's . He is very much happy and they pound really good.
I now run Sundown and Rockford amps and couldn't be happier with them. I am in the middle of a rebuild so I will post some pictures for you guys when it gets done. The Sundown 3500d powers two 18" DC lvl 4xl. And my rockford amps power my mids and highs.
Send me a pm if you have any questions about amp. I have used plently different brands and can point ya in the right direction.
i heard about sundown.......they are good amps as well

I have a personal preference, but granted, Sundown, as well as RF, JL, Alpine, DD, Kicker, some HiFonics, IA, etc make good amps.

I am still running an OS Soundstream class a 10.2 to my Infinity perfect 10's in a small sealed enclosure. Not an SPL monster, even in my Mustang, but the SQ is unbelievable.
For those of you that have not heard Soundstream is back in biz and it is good shit again.

How did you come to that conclusion? Did you rig up a dummy load(Giant resistor), use a voltmeter to measure the voltage coming out of the leads and use the formula (v^2)/R? If they DO reach 2000 watts, I'm sure the frequency response and distortion would be so terrible you would want to turn it down.
Hifonics amps are overrated - hype and wattage.

I can agree with some of these, but yeah it is personal preference. I used to be a big Alpine, JL fan. Till I started buying IA, Sundown products. DD makes real good stuff. I never ever owned anything from RF, nor Hifonics. Alpine still makes the best head units for me no doubt. And we all know what kicker is known to do.
