1998 yukon 4wd

Hopefully I am posting in the right place. I am a newbie here. I am currently in the market for a 1998-99 Yukon\Tahoe I found one I really like but the 4wd buttons doesn't work. I have heard it could be a switch on the dash or at the transfer case. any ideas?

No nothing no lights. I was looking at a 99 Suburban its like would only blink.
