Ever tried one? I had a Granetelli one for a while and the truck started throwing lean codes. Took it off and went back to stock, no problems now. I have heard this happening to other people also. I am so tempted to put it back on for a test run. Think I would need to get a re-tune for that?

ive read from a few people that they don't really help, so the stocker is still there.
you may be able to get it tuned to not run lean with it on there if you think the MAF actually helped.
Check JennaBear and look at her threads, she has posted that it doesn't make a difference whatsoever if you have a custom PCM tune...spend your money on a tune!

I wouldn't run one unless your tune calibrated it. A custom tune will recalibrate the aftermarket MAF to read stock anyways, essentially rendering it to being an OEM MAF again. :Boo:

I installed one and I noticed more of an improvement with that than I did with some of my other bolt ons. Air raid intake, tornado inside of it, MAF, BBK throttle body,Helix TB spacer.I installed them all seperatley and the MAF was the most "seat of the pants" feel for me. 99 Denali 5.7

i've heard the same advice jenna is giving. spend the money elsewhere....preferrably for more power...like a blackbear tune...shameless plug...lol...i wish i had the funds to do one too and the convincing power with my wife to agree to it hehe.

Too late, actually a few years too late. Live and learn, before I got my tune I went back to stock

yeah the MAF was a ton of cash..you could buy a nice Chip with that cash.but i like mine.
Tornado..yeah i know but it was only 20$ on ebay so i thought it couldnt hurt.
BBK is nice i like it too.
Helix TB spacer..i figured i was puttin the BBK already so why not chuck one in while i was at it.
Air Raid..from Ebay also...love ebay,lol
i wasnt expecting a huge change..better milage and enough to pull away from other stock SUVs and TRUCKS around town.she gets up and goes pretty good now..and gets 600 km+ to a tank.

Love the truck man, and 600 km to a tank is only about 375 miles. I can usually pull 400 miles to a tank or about 650 km and I'm stock besides a dirty K&N drop in. If I go on long trips I can pull about 450 miles to a tank. Actually one time I pulled 19.75 mpg with 265/75/16 tires and stock height on interstate driving at ~75 mph
But I have no performance mods yet, but I have lots of plans for the next few years: e-fans, LT headers, custom 3" high flow catted y-pipe, custom 3" exhaust, vette servo, custom CAI, then a built LT1 to get rid of the damn boat ancor vortec 5.7 :D
