Vette servo

Put in my vette servo today. WAY easier than I expected! The snap ring was the only difficult part...I tried so damn hard to get that thing on while trying to balance a wrecking bar on my forehead...finally I got my girlfriend to hop under the truck and hold the pry bar and it literally only took me 5 seconds to pop that sucked back on. One thing not to underestimate is the amount of fluid that comes out. In total it was just shy of a quart but I didnt think I would need a pan/bucket so I got pretty drenched. Anyway, shiftness is a little more firm but Im still going to need a shift kit to get what I want. Just thought I'd share my adventure / success.

Oh and one question, did you guys put your heat shield back on? I havnt yet and I wont if I dont need to. Should I?

That's cool dude. It probably won't hurt anything without the heatshield; it wouldn't hurt to play it safe though. I myself would probably re-install it, as I've had some bad luck leaving protective shielding off of one of my old rides. Also, I wouldn't want to have to store it somewhere, haha (e.g. take up needed space in my garage). Anyways, it's always fun wrenchin, trying to fix or upgrade something. Glad to hear it was a success. Would you say the vette servo is a mod worth performing?

You're totally right about storage, I'd loose the bolts within a week hah. Ill slap it back on tomorrow, especially considering it's still laying in the middle of my driveway with my wrench. Couldnt be more convenient. I just topped off my tranny fluid and for some reason the shifts are a bit more firm now...dunno if that had anything to do with it. Still no tire chirping though. But considering it took me 30 minutes and only cost me $14 on ebay, I'd definitely recommend it although if firm shifts are what you're after I wouldnt expect as great of results from this as you would probably get from a shift kit. I'm going to add a transgo reprogramming kit soon so the two working together should be pretty fun

Also, protip: When removing the E clip, just use a flathead screwdriver...I tried my butterfly knife and now Im missing a little piece of finger

Haha, I'll keep that in mind if I go that route. I usually tend to bust out my knife for things that I probably don't need it for. BTW, I wasn't laughing at your mishap, I was just laughing at your positive attitude about it .

Hah I used to be a sous chef, also was a sushi chef for a couple of years, I was trained by this extremely strict Japanese chef who insisted on being as fast as physically possible with a knife...slicing my hands up is what Im good at.

Ahh, that's why you love sushi! haha. That's pretty awesome. I used to work in a box factory about 4 years ago (a lot more extreme than it sounds trust me) I would slice my fingers, arms and wrist up everyday (huge cardboard paper cuts, and box cutter cuts) because I didn't wear gloves for certain jobs (gloves would make those jobs harder). Your hands toughen up real quick.
