man!!! i can't enjoy mono subs in my system. i got a
kenwood 979 with the dolby surround and a center channel

i'm used to having l&r SUB rca outputs i have 2 subs and

a mono amp for each one this radio only has i sub rca
output the subs sound terrible (this isn't the first) time

iv'e tried the mono way there is void in the low end

that i can't stand so i was able to get the subs on L&R

using the rear rca's it now back the way i like it for now.

I've always run L + R subs. My setup was 2 Audiobahn 10 inch DVC speakers and a single amp big enough to handle it. The amp cooked itself so I pulled that and put in a 650 monoblock amp and hooked a single speaker ... it's not so bad but I wanna put it back to the way it was. :D

i'm glad someone else hears my pain with mono subs. I guess

when start off doing one thing it's hard for a change.

I did the same thing man, I saw "sub rca" and was like "oh cool bet this sounds great" my subs are already hooked up for L&R so I put a Y connector into the sub output...yea NEVER AGAIN now its in the rear rca's

i had a bad y rca for the subs now they sound pretty close to the
L&R set up i'm use too. now i need to concentrate on the
center channel spkr install.

I have a setup for 5.1 surround on my head unit but no idea how to even begin hooking it up, was gonna get an amp and run new wires to the existing speakers but I've decided to save as much as i could and buy a Tahoe before I complete my system currently I'm running a S10 blazer "LT Tahoe" lol with a Jensen vm9412 with infinity reference 4x6's in the dash, infinity kappa 6.5's in the rear doors and 2 dual 12's in a ported box with an alpine 400watt class d mono amp. The sound is unbelievable its really a bargain system but works great.
