View Full Version : Got the s/c installed

I had to go to Corpus for the weekend with my wife for her aunt's wedding. My wife said that as long as I make the wedding and reception, I can take the s/c with me and install it at her brother's house while we're there so I didn't have to wait til we got back home:) So we started on it late fri night, went to the wedding sat morning, then finished the install Sat afternoon. Everything went fairly smooth. Only problem; the programmer Magnuson sent won't override the BB tune I have. So now the larger injectors are staying open longer than needed because the pcm thinks the original injectors are still in the truck and it's trying to compensate for the added air. It bogs at wot under heavy loads after shifting into 2nd and beyond. But in first gear...damn, it screams. SOB is crazy loud! Started at a 15 roll (it wouldn't catch traction below that) and pulled my brother in law's 01 SS Z28 up until around 45 when the truck shifted into 2nd then started bogging down. I'm meeting Justin in a couple weeks so he can re-program the pcm and get it going. I have about a four hour trip back home, so we'll see how it does just cruising with the pcm the way it is. At least it isn't running lean.

So you replace the fuel injectors as part of the install? Do they come with the SC?

Not sure of the difference in the Whipple and Radix. Both are belt driven and twin screw types.
Larger injectors come with the kit. Hell, everything I needed came with the kit. I didn't have to use any thing except solder and heat shrink instead of the crimp connectors they supplied to extend the IAT and TB ETC harness.

Cleaner as in less dirt or less clutter? Or both:)? I do need to get in there and clean though. Especially now that I have something worth showing off under the hood:party33:.

Hell yeah!!! I can picture the ear to ear grin on yo face!!! I dont know the difference between the 2 either but on my Whipple I get no lag, the response is instant, if the Radix is twin screw it should be pretty much the same.
Looking forward to making this trip to Tex happen to scope this out and test the Hoes on the track. Should be a fuckin' blast.

You running high octane fuel?. I'm running a 93 octane tune with mine..

Don't worry, when you open up that hood now the last think people will notice is how sanitary it is..

Time for a biult tranny now.. Props man!!!

Nice nice... at least your ol' lady was cool about it. Lookin good though, should have taken the truck to a dealer and had them flash the stock pcm tune back to be able to override the tune. I've had to do that for a few friends whom went to tuners that lock the PCM, I hate that crap.

Darn, I was looking forward to helping out man. Congrats though! Any vids yet? Once you get the custom tune it should be INSANE! Then the tranny... man, I'm envious! Was your wife impressed? haha

Which stall converter are you going with? Low MPH traction will be even worse once that mod is done. Spinning 24's is :worship: Must be nice!

What tire hookup do you have for those 24's? :burnout:

Not yet. I had some unexpected dues to take care of first. Hopefully within the next couple months I'll have the cam, LTs, and the new trans in.

Thnx bro. Yea, I'm running 93.

Yessir, everything included. I was actually impressed with everything it came with.

My wife wasn't too happy with the how much gas it drank on the trip back. It's running extremely pig rich with the larger injectors and current pcm program. But I explained to her once I retune the pcm it'll be back on track and she's cool with it. She's amazed at how much lighter the truck feels when you just barely touch the accelerator. Oh...and she's not exactly impressed that I can throw away money easier by smoking the tires:D.
I haven't bought a TC yet. Thinking about somewhere just in the 2300-2600 range.

The kit came with an auxillary in-line fuel pump and larger 42# Bosch injectors.

I'm ordering a built trans rated up to 650hp hopefully sooner than later.
Which intake are you asking about...intake manifold or intake air box assembly? I re-used my aftermarket filter/airbox assembly (minus the tube) and put my intake manifold/injectors/fuel rail in storage in case I need it for whatever reason later.

I don't know why I typed the Radix is a twin screw. It's a roots, and the power is defintiely there on tap.

Yea, i didnt think the Radix would be a twin screw. i'd rather a roots, more power throughout the RPM range than a twin screw!

What kind if CAI do you have JK? Are you looking to get rid of the old tube? I just bought a Volant set-up on the cheap this weekend because it was missing the tube. I was going to order one from them, but if you have one you're looking to get rid of, let me know.

Jealous for sure.

Is Justin with BB coming to Texas soon? I think i recall a thread regarding that but I can't remember when. I have 105 racing fuel available three blocks from my house. It is the closest station to the local dirt track so all those guys stop there and fill up.

congrats man.

Man, Sorry bro, but I ended up using the tube to pick up cool air from behind the opening on the SS bumper. My old tube went MIA a couple months ago down the highway. So if you see one laying on the side of Mopac somewhere, you can have it:D. Btw, how's your truck coming?
Jealous for sure.
