I picked up a used Rockford Fosgate P500-2 yesterday on craigslist for 100.00. I know these run around 250-350 new i jumped right on it and the guy even drove an hour to me to deliver it so great deal.

This is an upgrade from my JBL BP300.1 and now I have 500watts at 4ohms to work with. So my question is, what subwoofer set up should i go with?

Right now I am looking at getting an Alpine Type R 12" 4 Ohm as that subwoofer can handle 500rms with no problem. I would put it in a ported box as i listen to more rap/hip-hop with deep bass. I found i can get one on woofersetc.com for 129.99 plus shipping which is good considering they cost 199.99 at bestbuy.

But i also was looking at getting 2 JL 12W1v2 for 99.99 a piece.

In your opinions, which would create more bass. Im going for louder.

IMHO, you'll like the Type R's...

Would one type r produce the same amount of bass that two 12's would produce.
I found a guy selling a new one in box with a sealed enclosure for 150 on craigslist

well, it's really hard to say.
Sometimes one ported 12" woofer against two may be louder, but 'generally' thinking, two woofers of same size has twice the Sd or cone area, hence, will be louder.
