I did this on my tahoe. Go on ebay. Get one out of S-10 blazer its like 60 or 90 bucks compared to 350 from the parts dealers.

You have yo reomove the under and upcover around the steerin wheel. Then the undercover of the dash. Trace the wires to the plu...unbolts plug then unplug pugs and retrace your steps. Becareful when plugging and unplugging usually go b/c its has overheated and melted like mine did. Its in a tight area so be patient!

I have also change my turn signal on my denali and the thing i notice on the write up that blizz is showing is that i think its not necessery to remove the airbag i just turn the streeing wheel until i could see the screw and i used a long extension on my ratchet.

Nice post on that Turn Signal Switch problem. I was also researching in the net the same thing. At least, my search for a solution was found here in this forum. I'll try to do that with my vehicle!

funny how this was just bumped.....i've now lost both signals and brake lights. the funny thing is that the 3rd brake light works fine but not the brake lights. the #1 fuse blows instantly. before it was the #16 only when I used my right turn signal. interestingly enough, the first issue started after i put my in my new head unit....and recently got worse after taking it out to check on something. i'm thinking maybe the strain i'm putting on the switch taking off the dash bezel is breaking it? who knows. i'm getting more frustrated by the day.

I put a Escalade steering wheel in my 99 Tahoe and the air bag and steering wheel can be removed in about 5-10 mins. Take about a 1/4" flat head and there are hole in the back of the steering wheel cover and twist and the air bag comes out. The switch is not hard to change but it is in a tight space.

I changed my turn blinker switch out a few months back. It is definitely a tight spot to work in. The worst part was unplugging the turn blinker assemblies wiring under the dash board and then pugging it back in, its held in by a bolt and it was hard to get to, but it is pretty straight forward. One screw at a time!
Good luck!

Just wanted to bump/update this thread. As mentioned in another thread, I finally got around to doing this and it fixed the issue with my turn signal. It was a pain in the ass but I'm glad it's done. Some advice, you don't have to take the air bag off, just remove the fuse and wait about 30 minutes to be safe. Also the connector for the cruise control is a real ***** to get off. I ended up taking some wire cutters and clipped the retaining clip off. Cut the wires going to the cruise control module so you'll have more slack and if you can, unsnap the cruise control module and slide it off the guide rod for better access. I came across this accidentally when I inadvertently popped it off. Last thing is to be careful with the screw behind the steering wheel. Turn the wheel to the left as much as you can and get the bit in there and use a wrench to turn it enough to loosen it. Then you can take it off safely. I almost stripped my screw by going in at an angle.

I have said it once and I will say it again. You remove the abs fuse AND disconnect the 2-wire yellow connector for the bag and no waiting 30 minutes. The bag unit does not retain a built up charge. That is what the DERM is for. Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module aka air bag module. it only retains the juice to blow its load for two minutes from key off, battery ground removal or fuse disconnect. When the yellow connector of the bag is disconnected service work can begin immediately.
