I'm not good with oil sample numbers. but am I seeing that 0w20 seems to have higher iron from ring wear than the 5w30 and test 5 was high from the over heat?

I'm a few 1000 miles from my next change and still considering trying the new amsoil 0w20 hybrid line. since my truck literally starts and stops the engine at least 50 times a day. but still calls for 5w30.

last oil sample of mobile 1 5w30 showed iron of 12 at 5100 miles on it, 2k of it towing a car on a trailer. engine at 150k.

think I can take anything away from your higher iron count from thinner oil that makes you think I should leave well enough alone.

Here are 3 previous used oil reports for the 6.2L, and a baseline (BL) or virgin or unused report. All 4 of these previous reports are about Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5w-40.

The 3 best reports when looking only at Iron (Fe) ppm are:

3/29/19, Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5w-40, 8100 miles, Fe=39 ppm or 4.8 ppm per 1,000 miles, 6 qt sump
7/24/19, Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5w-40, 6,200 miles, Fe=40 or 6.45 ppm per 1,000 miles, 6 qt sump
8/22/22, Amsoil 0w-20 Signature, 6,235 miles, Fe=37=5.9 ppm or 5.9 ppm per 1,000, 11 qt sump

The overheat event (plastic heater hose T broke) happened 12 of 19. You can see how it effected the oil in the 3/20 report.

Its back to the stock oil system configuration now. I'm hoping that the next uoa report (in 2024) will indicate if the my mods were helping or hurting.
